Has anyone heard of Healthy Chef?

They ship meals ready to prepare, portioned for 2 people? I have a weird work schedule and no good close by grocery stores and it sounds appealing and the meals sound good for one or 2 a week. But I'm hesitant for some reason.

To my mind they are both kind of expensive - but I am cheap and have plenty of time to shop and to plan menus so neither service is of any advantage to me.

I took a glance at some of their offerings and thought it a little high, but it's all about how long it takes you to get to a grocery store, the miles you drive, and the cost of the food you get at that store. When taking all that into account, this might be quite reasonable. I always figure my time is worth money.

If you can get two meals each out of one box, that would definitely be reasonable.

so it wouldn't be worthwhile to me. I suppose if I lived far away from stores and I was still working 12 hour shifts, it might make more sense to have someone else do all the prep work and deliver it to my door.

I wouldn't guarantee that their recipes would be prepared as they specified, however.

Someone gave my sister a gift of some free meals and she really liked them. Now she does this one or two weeks a month. She said the flavors were really good, everything has been fresh, and her teen daughter has gotten into helping so it's been good for them. Once you've been doing it, you can send someone else a week's worth for free.

I know I could pay far less if I shop on my own but I am looking for some inspiration. And I like the idea of no waste.

They have a big facility over in Jersey City. In a jobs program that I work with, we have sent them some excellent employees--and some not so excellent. The excellent ones never get hired or get fired fast and the not-so-excellent seem to stay on.

Weird. Makes one wonder about the competency of the place. If it happened once or twice, OK, but it's happened quite a bit.
