For an appetizer, miniature sandwiches with ham, provolone, and a touch of pumpkin-walnut jelly.
Salad is torn greens with chopped apple, toasted walnut, gorgonzola, red onion, and dried cranberries.
Veal piccata with lemon, parsley, and capers.
Root vegetable puree. It has parsnips, potatoes, and turnips.
I'm drinking a mango coconut kombucha, but I think others are having wine.
p.s. and yes, it is COLD here! The temperatures, as promised by the weather forecast, have plunged. Fortunately much of the slush we got melted. Nevertheless, I am well stocked with ice melt stuff. I had to buy it myself because when I asked the RG to get salt at the supermarket, he came home with five boxes of kosher salt.

(1,697 posts)cooked a chicken breast in my small crock pot with a few spoonfuls of salsa, then shredded it, to have with taco fixings on tortillas. Dessert was leftover tarts from Thanksgiving - pumpkin, apple and pecan ones. They seemed to have survived freezing pretty well.

My small crockpot is bubbling away, filled with ground meat & bean chili for later this week. Stress cooking, minced & froze onions & celery in 1/4 c amounts to use in stews or soups.

(9,231 posts)And a small ham because DH thinks m & c (not the Kraft Dinner kind) is a side dish. Way too labor intensive and gets too many pans dirty for a side dish. Both make good leftovers though.
Romesco sauce, sliced onions, prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes, Parmesan, on homemade sourdough crust. Wine: Granacha from Spain.

(10,375 posts)It was from the NY Times recipe posted on DU earlier this week.
It's very good, I followed the recipe exactly. Warmed up some leftover rice with the stock to have with it.
I like a lot of seasoning, so I think it needs a little more salt and black pepper, but as-is it would be great for people on low-sodium diets.
