What's for Dinner, Sun., Jan. 27, 2019

Earlier this afternoon, the RG and I drove to Newark for a shopping trip to a Portuguese market. He loves to frequent food stores from other cultures. With the ingredients he purchased, he made a lamb pie for dinner. It's beautiful--all golden and crisp. Double-crust. There are vegetables like Swiss chard and potatoes in the pie. It's not in a pie plate, though. It's in a heavy metal enameled dish that's oval in shape. The chard we were able to get was at the peak of freshness.

In addition, we bought some rice and he made rice with pancetta.

I'll make a salad of some sort, but I'm not sure what yet.

Did the RG grind the lamb or is it cut into small chunks? It sound delicious.

We're making crab cakes with some fresh frozen crab meat we have in the freezer. I like to mince some onion and celery to add to the cakes. Mashed potatoes and peas & carrots.

Dark chocolate and red wine for dessert.

Hope everyone has a good week!

I have a pic, but I can't get it uploaded at tinypic. Tried 3 times.

I am so glad you are OK! I read the thread last night.

Soup and bread tonight. Split pea soup slow simmering in the cooker, and some cheese/dill beer bread I baked yesterday.
Like that chocolate and red wine idea though.

1/2 a baked butternut squash. Brushed with salt, pepper and olive oil before baking.

I'm not sure what else. TJ was exhausted after Friday and Saturday night shifts at the horesepistol and went back to bed a few hours ago. FLFC joined her because his sleep last night might not be enough.

I'll be perusing the leftovers in the refrigerator after I eat squash.

sort of a pressure cooker beef bulgogi - had a chuck roast in the freezer and thought this would be a good use. Rice, maybe some jarred kimchi, and some asparagus.

Yonnie, your squash sounds good. I usually get butternut, but recently tried a buttercup squash and thought it was very good.

The way my grandma used to make it but my garlic piece was too big for how much I made. A little stiff on the garlic.
Corn left from last night and cukes and onions in vinegar.

Making peanut butter cookies later.
