When Their Sad Ads Stopped Working, One Animal Shelter Tried Out A New Idea

It Saved 5,000 Dogs.

KInd of reminds me of that "I rescued a human" poem.

The Human Walking Program provides desk-bound Melbournians a chance to get out of the office, get some exercise, and make a new best friend.

It's hoped two-legged participants become so enamored with the experience, they'll eventually decide to adopt their companion.

It's a wonderful idea. In fact, it's where the dogs are doing the rescuing.

What a GREAT idea, let the dogs themselves win over new owners. Everyone, including the dogs, look so happy. Glad all the dogs found new homes. Talk about "turning on the charm"!!

Not sure about walking with a minder though. I would prefer to be allowed to walk around the park with the dog alone.

But it's for the dog's protection. You can't tell by looking who's an abuser and who's safe.

Anyway, kick and rec for a great idea and a happy bit of news!

or even just walking with them without holding a second leash. The second leash is kinda like saying "we don't trust you". I don't think that is a good approach. I seriously doubt they are going to get uninterested or uncaring people to want to walk the dogs.

Sounds awkward, but I must say, I agree with the agency. Best to be overprotective. There are a lot of animal abusers out there.

or simply can't follow instructions. It never fails to amaze me how many adults believe rules were made for others, or are simply incapable of following simple directions.

It would only take one or a few idiots to decide to let their dog "off-leash" for chaos and possible injury to ensue.

On the other hand, I'd guess the "minders" may be able to answer questions about the pups in question, thereby fostering the potential adoption.

honestly say that with a world filled with so much hatred and animal cruelty it does my heart good to see we humans doing something right. This video brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting.
