Related: About this forumMy guy brought home a new kitten tonight
(We need this like we need holes in our heads.)
He brought her in, let me hold her for a while, and then comes out with, "This doesn't mean we're keeping her."
Not keeping her? Yah right.
She's an 8 week old Siamese. She's very laid back and sweet. Definitely a lap cat.
We'll give her a few days to see if she names herself. We have a few names in mind, but none of them may suit her.
Pictures to come.

(6,083 posts)Like we need another fur baby....not
Rescued from two young men who had her living in a bathroom as they had pitties.
She is the sweetest little Himalayan with the biggest blue eyes you ever saw. Oh well, here we go again!

A suggestion.

(53,061 posts)The name you refer to would be pronounced Wanida.
There are some unusual errors on that list, for example Sirikit doesn't mean Queen it is the name of the Queen, wife of King Rama IX Bumiphol, who passed away a couple of years ago, and now mother of the current King.
It would be a good name for a regal female cat.
When the Siamese cat was developed over a hundred years ago it was only legal for the Royal family to have them.

(65,328 posts)it is also their word for popcorn.
I was going to name my Siamese Palomita, but she told me her name was Lucia (pronounced Loo-chi-a). I call her Lucy, but sometimes I call her Chia Pet.

(65,328 posts)also suggests high spirits.
Of course, you could name her Paloma & call her Palomita, just as John can be called Johnny, and James can be called Jimmy.

(13,772 posts)He's a blue point. I've seen him on video but haven't met him in person yet. My 2 year old chocolate lynx point Siamese is lonely after losing his buddy 6 months ago. He likes having at least one other animal in the house.
People ask me what I'll name him and I have to explain that I have to wait until he's here and lets me know his name. LOL!

(33,643 posts)This is mah boy ... he'll be 17 this year ... I've had him since he was 6 months old, 2003 ...
Luckily for him (and me), he seems to dig music as much as I do ... as we speak, he's crashed on the floor right between the two stereo speakers, and about 4 feet from the subwoofer.
He could be anywhere in the house where it's quiet, but nope ...

(22,631 posts)I named her Mia.
I also have a very beauty challenged Chihuahua rescue. She's got several birth defects but that's a part of her charm, so I named her Bella.
Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

(6,847 posts)What's relevant is that she or he needs you.
(And they always end up filling a need anyway, a need you didn't know you had as a rule.)

(38,549 posts)And we have 4 dogs.
One of our dogs likely needs a tooth extraction, and we don't have the money for it.
It was just a couple of weeks ago when we were asked if we wanted a kitten. Al and I talked about it, and in our discussion we agreed that another pet wasn't a good idea.
interestingly enough, I told my sister that somehow the kitten was going to end up with us.
Two days ago, I figured I was wrong--that he had dismissed the idea of bringing the kitten home.
Last night, he comes home w/ this sweet little girl inside his coat.
Sent sis a text last night: "What'd I tell you?" Her reply: "LOL. you have a new kitten."

(6,847 posts)but when I lived (with my retired mother) in a neighborhood - in a small rural college town there were a lot of strays. At one point we had 12. All were spayed/neutered. Fortunately none had other problems requiring money. Do you have a GoFundMe? Or a PayPal email? I couldn't send a lot but I could send something. (ADU email would reach me if you don't want tit public.)

(794 posts)When we got our calico kitten from a shelter where she had been rejected twice before--<<does not play well with others>>.
I saw her as pretty and playful. 15 yrs ago--she is elderly now. I proposed to name her NPR, because our radio is on 20/6. This was unwieldy and evolved to became Pearl.
Cats are funny as every one knows. Pearl knows her name when spoken by Arlene, but ignores me except at dinner time.

(53,061 posts)We lost our golden "Champ" to cancer and a year latter my Siamese bride of 40 years was unloading the trunk when this year old Siamese jumped on into the trunk. Wife walks to the apartment with tears and I tell her we can't keep him.
After a couple of nights we go to the vet, use the chip to find the owner 3 miles and hundreds of apartments away.
Ten days later he returned to us, he passed hundreds of apartments and apparently had dozens of fights as he was cut from head to paw.
Took him to the pound and claimed him. After a week he was ours and we became cat people.
At 3 in the morning he jumped on us and I said "starting tomorrow he sleeps on another room".
Of course we get jumped on every night as he acts out his jungle fantasy.
He talks all day long and my wife argues with him in both Thai and English. He is trained to get his teeth brushed and walks the neighborhood on a leash. He is extremely handsome but only slightly conceited when people flock to admire him.
It seems so far fetched that he would find us and find us again but my wife has the only explanation that makes any sense: Champ was missing us and wanted to come back and knew that the coming back as a Siamese cat would make it obvious and we would take him in.
When his mother isn't there I ask him about it and he is mostly quiet but the says something philosophical like " does it matter who I was in the last life" or "maybe I was Sam before I was Champ".
I know (sort of) that he is just playing with my brain and we eventually drift into silence. Eventually he will start to drift to sleep and he moves over and puts his paws on my hand and his head on his paws and drifts to sleep with a loud pur as he rests up to leap on us at 3 A.M.
These are the times and tribulations of a Siamese cat named Siam that we call Sam.

(38,549 posts)The yet-to-be named new member of the family.
It's not a very good picture. Lighting in the room bad, flash makes it worse, couldn't get her to sit still and look at me--go figure, I couldn't get kitty to behave.
(Also trying out a new image hosting site... so I'll have to work on sizing the pictures.)
