Happy news!

My rescue cat, Sammy, was adopted by me in July of 2011. He had been back and forth to the rescue group with people adopting and returning him for the first 1-1/2 years of his life. He is the friendliest cat, always greeting me at the door, as well as greeting any company who comes. He loves everyone. He had health issues that took that first year to get under control, but he is doing well now.

But Sammy never purred. It was the strangest thing to have a cat who didn't purr. He would love on me, sleep by me, but never purr. Well, last night, he curled up beside me in bed and started purring----big noisy purrs. I didn't realize how much I missed purrs. It was a wonderful things, especially realizing that he had not done it before.

I think he finally trusts me that this is his forever home.

I would miss purrs so much! My tabby sleeps with me and purrs me to sleep at night. Or rather, she purrs both of us to sleep.

Who would have thought that a cat just never felt like purring!

I look forward to lots of purrs now.

My Freddie purrs constantly. When we got him from the rescue, my daughter and I were shown 2 brother kittens they had just gotten in. She touched one of them and he started purring immediately. No question which one we were going to take home.

I never knew a cat who didn't purr before, and just thought they all did. Then I figured that he just didn't purr, that maybe there were cats that just didn't.

I guess he had some bad experiences that put the purrs on hold.

So many losses. I'm glad there's reason to cheer, too.

and when I came as saw all the sadness, it took the steam out of my pleasure.....but then I thought this is just what is needed right now. I do feel so bad about the losses, been there too many times.

Maybe Sammy knew that there was going to be a spurt of bad news.

I guess it took him a long time to feel comfortable enough.....and now he is. In fact, he was just visiting me a minute ago to give me a few purrs before he disappeared again.
