but I have made a few changes to the hosting situation after seeing the lighting rod that this forum has become over the last few weeks.
To be honest, the fact that the African American forum could become a lighting rod, be almost completely ignored (as we have been for years) or be a source of disdain/maligning on ANY "liberal" or Democratic forum should give every single person that posts or knows anything about this web site cause for considerable dismay. But that would involve compassion, a lack of self-defensiveness and absorption, and a genuine commitment and understanding of liberal/progressive values (including recognizing and respecting the tremendous value of racial and ethnic diversity) for that to happen. Which is to say, that it won't happen. Not around here.
So with all that in mind and after seeing the trolling that has occurred in bravenak's thread, I have unfortunately removed Frenchiecat and nofurylike as hosts. Two greater and more passionate posters you won't find here but Frenchie's posting has diminished considerably and her last post was several months ago. Nofurylike hasn't posted in a year. And this web site --whether it is smart enough to recognize this or not -- is lessened for their departures.
I have added JustAnotherGen and bravenak as hosts. I tried to also add 1SBM and kwassa as well but for some reason it wouldn't let me. Maybe because this is a group? But the BOG had about 15 hosts at one time and it's a group too. It's likely because I don't have a star that it wouldn't let me add the final two and if that's the case, then you'll be stuck with five because I don't donate to places that build up libertarians and tear down Democrats.
I won't be around much but I didn't want to leave this forum to become as overrun as other forums have. Take care of this joint, please? It's the last bit of sanity this place has.

If the system won't let you add more hosts then maybe the new hosts(JAG and bravenak) can add them when they're ready? Hosts can do that.
Hosts
Group Hosts are assigned either by the DU Administrators, or by other Hosts of that group. Group Hosts have the following abilities: 1) They can lock threads which they believe violate the group's stated purpose; 2) they can pin threads to the top of the group; 3) they may completely block out members whom they believe are not adhering to the group's purpose; 4) they may add other members as group Hosts; and 5) they may remove any Host that became a Host after they did (and who is listed below their name on the list below).
I added people in the BOG. And, like 23 said.. we have a few.
