While you danced
I was reading
flying thru pages
and falling.

While you were traveling
to Venice and Ilyria
I was dreaming of release
from those tedious volumes.

While you slept
I was writing writing
nervous pen skittering
across the pages.

While you danced blind
to Bach in the velvet void
of stage
I was scattering my bones.

While you danced
I was learning to walk again
one slow watery step at a time.
