Who in the national sports media has most overstayed their welcome?

My nominee would be Bob Costas. His ever-earnest Smart Boy routine is stale to the point of nausea-inducing.
And is there anyone more artificial than Jim Nantz? OK, I admit part of the reason I hate him is he reminds me of Mittens...a LOT!
But there are many worthies. I'm sure I've omitted some.

Perhaps because Muffburger has less exposure than Costas, Berman and Buck Auggie Sep 2012 #15

I turned off the ND game at the half, later turned on the ABC game only to hear him say that "Notre Dame was having a rough time in the first half, but are now in control." So I turned it back...17-7 in the third is not in control...maybe I'm being picky, but they guy can't even get small things right.

Some of his old NFL PrimeTime schtick was great (Rumblin', bumblin', stumblin'...)

I would bring NFL Primetime back and never replace Berman or Jackson. Great chemistry between them and loved the way Berman recapped the games.

The great thing is it wasn't just highlights but analysis why and/or how a team won or lost right after the games were played. It was brilliant. NBC's Football Night in America is fucking clueless.

On the bright side, FNA does gives me some time to do something useful like vacuum or take out the garbage.

Although a "write in" for Brent Musburger was considered. I have never forgiven him for a snide remark about a baseball players' strike going into the summer; Mushburger said that if the strike wasn't settled no one would care because the NFL pre-season was about to begin.

The worst thing ever was when ABC teamed up Howard Cosell and Keith Jackson to do the World Series. Now, that was bad.

I like him too, but there is no way to grasp why someone else doesn't like a guy that we like.

Those folks don't understand how you and i could like him either.

It's just a matter of taste. I don't care for sports guys that are too serious. It's all just games, after all.

The stupid nicknames, the "back back back" crap, the dumb noises he makes on a juke or a fumble, the way pronounces certain words. I fucking hate this guy.

As I said, his act was tired in '87. It's unbearable now.

I'm so sick of sports writers. Every year after week 1 which everyone somehow thinks is all they need to know when it comes to the NFL this year then w/ arrogant certainty they start predicting Super Bowls. They do so before the season. I'd love to make arrogant certain predictions about teams and players and somehow get paid for it even though you bring back their words and tape and they weren't only wrong, but dead wrong.

One example is Bill Simmons and the Heat, especially when they first teamed up and throughout the season. His critique was never about Heat strategy but about roles and that they can't win without a clear leader and worse than that, he suggested the #1 guy should be Wade - it's obvious, especially now, that's terrible advice. But he is a good writer. I Rick Reilly is near the top of the list of ones I can't stand.

It would be easier to which ones I'm not sick of. Chris Broussard, he probably does have a history of awful predictions but he knows his shit. When it comes to general sports media figures I like Adam Schefter. I don't understand how he has any critics, he is almost always first w/ NFL transaction news and depth chart moves. I can't think of a time when his information was incorrect, he correctly called who the Cardinals' starting QB (in the middle of pre-season) was going to be after pre-season during the Whisenhut era of QB competitions (2008 - Warner over Leinart / 2010 - Anderson over Leinart / Skelton over Kolb). I also enjoy certain game broadcasters but no one holds a candle to how excellent Keith Jackson was.
