World Cup 2014 opening ceremony

The beautiful game has come to beautiful Brazil. But before the soccer begins, the World Cup is officially kicking off with an opening ceremony that’ll rival the Olympics with performances from Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and more. The cultural event starts at 2:15 p.m. ET

It’s been a long four years since the World Cup has taken over, so of course Brazil — a seriously soccer-crazy nation — is celebrating the one-of-a-kind sporting event with a blowout. Jennifer Lopez will be there! Pitbull will be there! And more Samba dancers than you’ve ever seen! Don’t miss a second of the opening ceremony by streaming it below.

Like Olympics opening ceremonies, this World Cup event is going to a huge spectacle, and one that will highlight the beauty and history of Brazil, the 2014 host nation.

Each of the country’s treasures will be represented by characters and props, according to FIFA. And the focal point of the ceremony, which will last about 25 minutes, will be a central, “living” LED ball made up of more than 90,000 light clusters producing a luminance of 7,000 Nits.

And of course the performance will feature a ton of stars. JLo will be on hand performing her World Cup theme song, “We Are One (Ole Ola),” and Pitbull will also be there to support the sexy singer.
