The NFL has signed a new deal with Wembley to play at least two matches a year at the stadium until the end of the decade, as it continues to slowly build towards a full-time franchise in London.
Earlier this year, the NFL signed a 10-year contract to also play at least two games per year at Tottenhams new White Hart Lane from 2018.
The new deal with Wembley includes an option to extend the contract until 2025, mapping out a future in which at least four matches will be played in London per season and shared between the two venues.
As part of the deal, Jacksonville Jaguars extended their contract to play at least one match per season in London until 2020.

(50,530 posts)The Guardian is in for serious culture shock: the NFL plays "games," you're supposed to catch the ball - which is not round, goaltending is an offense, and the games don't end with penalty kicks.

Personally, I'd much rather see sports growing from the bottom up, rather than being having the NFL foisted on us by the likes of George Osborne and Boris Johnson.

(50,530 posts)I've seen rugby. I prefer football. If you like rugby, watch rugby.
Somehow I doubt the cheers of a rugby crowd ever started an earthquake...go to YT and watch "Beast Quake," the most incredible play in the history of sport.

That's exactly how rugby started! William Webb-Ellis picking the ball up in a football match at Rugby school and running with it.

And from that evolved Rugby Union, followed later on by American "Football" and later still Rugby League.
