He just hit a triple in Colorado to ring up hit number 3000.
30 players have reached that point and Ichiro reached it after starting at age 27. He had played 9 years in Japan before coming to the US.
Not bad for a guy who'll turn 43 in October.

(11,760 posts)2. So, last Sunday, final game of the Regular Season at Nats Park
Ichiro comes up and drills a pinch hit single. I turned to my Daughter and told her that if he retires after this season (and it doesn't appear that he will) but that IF he retires, she and I will have witnessed Ichiro's last hit - which is a very big deal.
So, I kinda hopes he hangs it up.....

He's so fun to watch. I think he'll make the All Star game as well which will be in Miami this July.
