You may remember I had a close encounter a month ago: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027151319

In the last 10 days all our hummingbirds headed south except one. It was a female. I can't help but wonder if it was her. Yesterday was the last we saw of her. We leave the feeders up till freezing weather for those passing through.

When I posted about my encounter notadmblnd suggested planting Rose of Sharon bushes. They have bloomed and have buds. I can't wait for our hummingbirds to return. We plan on putting in asters: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027203744

Our granddaughter got out of school early today. We took her to Nebraska City on a Oktoberfest run. Only 4th grader I know that loves kraut. We got a few items made in an old world way.

We will make the trip again after the leaves get their color.

today I saw one on the pineapple sage, not on the feeder. Every night just before the sun goes down, I'll get at least one guarder. But they used to be here all day. So I guess it's that time around here, too. Funny how attached we get.
