A Musical History of Death: 'Exit Music' by Tom Allen

I'm not one to credit Christianity for doing much good over the past two thousand years, but one of the areas in which I'm willing to make concessions is the arts. Whatever its motives, the Church, through patronizing as well as its own endeavors, helped keep the arts alive throughout the Dark Ages.
