Seems like a similar group is always there with their megaphones.
I would try and keep my language clean though. Tons of little kids around. I don't want to be the asshole.
And if they don't show up, Pyramid Alehouse is right across the street. Win/Win
Edit: I fast forwarded through a lot of this. Didn't catch the xenophobic overtones pointed out below. I saw them as a carbon copy of the same annoying white crowd with megaphones outside Safeco field, linked by their extremely loud and obnoxious faith, nationality not related/interesting to the issue.

(43,049 posts)to try to embarrass some Mexicans enjoying their 1st Amendment right?
I also find them annoying, but not nearly as much as this schmuck wasting time on them instead of finding his earplugs.

(34,648 posts)He talked fast but i do not see it as useful to go up to christians and bug them about the rally. I did not see homes i saw a business district. And it was daytime. I am an atheist but i have no use for evangelizing or stopping people from gathering in a loud group of peaceful people. Then he got racial on them. He's lucky it wasn't me.
They love Jesus. Let them. It wont hurt you unless they are trying to pass laws or force it on you. I see rallies like that and just wave and walk by. I have decided he is rude and does not like mexicans. Not liking Mexicans annoys me a whole lot. Dusty!

(9,116 posts)If someone wants to approach a picket line or a rally and disagree with those assembled, that's fine in my book. There's nothing especially prickish about it.
Their nationality, on the other hand, is completely and utterly irrelevant. He's either trying too hard to be funny or he's fucking bigot. Neither is excusable, in my opinion.

(146,218 posts)and I would be very wary of promoting him.
He's a gigantic racist asshole, or more likely, just playing one. Everything I have seen by him has been despicable.
I do not like dusty.

(3,289 posts)do with it. Looks like someone trying to get a little film for his you tube site. Phony indignation. I think his foul language to them was to try and get them to react in a bad manner. Yeah, they are annoying but so was he and I don't care about nor would I bring up his ethnicity.

(106,886 posts)My town has a noise ordinance, iirc. Mainly initiated by loud, overflowing frat parties in local neighborhoods.
In any event, the guy's a bigot. How many times does he say "gangsta!" etc. in reference to the group. And as noted, the Seventh Day folks are very probably fellow citizens in his own city.

If he is an act, he's pretty good because certain people buy his schtick. They can even seem to overlook the overt racism because they love his message so much.
Thanks for the link.

(106,886 posts)Especially in such a public situation. They both have 1st Amendment rights to free speech. Yet his performance reeks of self promotion, not a serious or civil discussion. It was all a joke, apparently. An internet selfie.

the headline on your post does not read, "How to annoy a fundie church. "
The video maker's diatribe repeatedly labels the church members "Mexkin, " strongly suggesting that he's an anti-Hispanic racist and bigot. Your defense of his behavior strongly suggests that you share his views.
And by the way, "Mexkin" and "Meskin" are dead giveaways. Pretty much on the level of the n-word.
You and Dusty can be really proud of yourselves.

(118,224 posts)That doesn't really surprise me, as I really don't expect atheists to be much different than other people -- and since there are more than enough xenophobic bigots in America, simple statistical arguments would lead us to predict the existence of more than enough xenophobic bigot atheists
So I guess it also doesn't really surprise me that there people who find expressions of xenophobic bigotry refreshing and amusing
But I myself think it smells really bad
goldent
(1,582 posts)racist/jerk/etc atheists are not that way because they are atheists, rather they are racists/jerks/etc who happen to be atheist. Same argument goes for Christians and other religions.

(146,218 posts)Just because one chooses a label or a group or an affiliation, it really doesn't mean anything.
My issue here is that someone would post the rantings of a racist jerk and then he and others would applaud it. Using religion or lack of religion to promote bigotry is wrong whichever direction it is flowing.
