Texas and four other states sued the Obama administration on Tuesday over extending its healthcare nondiscrimination law to transgender individuals, saying the move represents a radical invasion of the federal bureaucracy into a doctors medical judgment.
Texas, along with Wisconsin, Nebraska, Kentucky and Kansas sued on behalf of three medical organizations, two of which are affiliated with Christian groups.
They argue the medical groups would be forced to violate their religious beliefs and perform harmful medical transition procedures or else suffer massive financial liability, according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, named as a defendant in the suit, was not immediately available for comment.

OP
sinkingfeeling
(51,274 posts)1. Why are states using taxpayer money to file suits for private
medical groups and religious organizations? When did 'religious beliefs' take precedence over their oath to "do no harm"?

The answer is likely politics. Look at the states that are doing it.

No one is going to be forced to perform "medical transition procedures" lest they get sued. That's just assinine. As stupid as churches claiming that they will be "forced" to perform same-sex marriages when their gawd would have a sad if they did.
