Atheists & Agnostics

Ran across this by accident. It's a lament from some guy's blog full of ironies and "doh!" moments (and a couple of actual good points).
I thought you heathens would get a kick out of #8...
8. They get smart:
Its not that our students got smarter when they left home, rather someone actually treated them as intelligent. Rather than dumbing down the message, the agnostics and atheists treat our youth as intelligent and challenge their intellect with deep thoughts of question and doubt.
See what you're doing!

Someone might want to post this as a response to whoever that was that claimed atheism is a comparatively modern arrival.

(21,046 posts)They complained because people don't want to be told they are loathsome sinners. People don't want to hear that they are supposed to suffer, and think all the time about the blood and guts of Jesus' suffering.
Well, yeah!! If they're psychologically healthy or want to be positive, instead of living in a death cult with psychological cannibalism, yeah, they should run like hell or they'll be terribly depressed all the time.
That is no way to live and be self-actualized (oops, I mentioned them gawdless psychological concepts).
Christians don't want people to live out their highest potential. They want to control them and make them feel bad. They cloak the control in being high on Jesus but that is a fraud. I don't need to put my faith in a guy who probably didn't even live 2,000 years ago to get my act together.

(49,984 posts)I got into an argument with a guy once about that. He kept telling me that God loves everyone and wants everyone to be happy, but it was Satan's fault for all of the sin and suffering in the world.
Me: OK, so where did sin come from?
Him: Satan
Me: And where did Satan come from?
Him: He was a fallen angel
Me: Who created the angels?
Him: God, of course.
Me: So then God made sin.
Him: No
Me: God created everything including sin and evil.
Him: No no no. You're twisting this all around.
This continued for a while but I gave up. It was like talking to a brick wall.
