Can Atheists have a God that they Worship? Yes.

Believing in a supernatural god is throwing personal accountability to the wind.

Instead of praying to a supernatural god, pray to yourself and answer truthfully. Own your beliefs and be accountable for who you are.

God is you.

I'm an atheist, but I'm not that egomaniacal.

Can people please stop redefining the meaning of the word "god"??????

I'm not praying to anything, including myself. Jeeze!

not to be accurately defined anyway.

The rest of that Chopraesque woo is worth as much as it means: nothing.

I would never join a religion that would have me as its god.

Value my life? Certainly. Worship myself? No way.

When I saw the Subject header, I thought for sure some joker from The Other Group was sniping us. I expected to see a picture of Richard Dawkins.

But instead, it's just standard brand "Chopraesque woo," as somebody else posted.

We atheists would be way behind the curve anyway, in the making ourselves god department. The Xians have been doing that for over 500 years - ever since the Bible was translated out of Latin so that everyone could read it. Once everyone could read it, everyone could make up his or her own interpretation of what God was REALLY saying.

The happy result - for atheists anyway - was what we have today: a massive clusterfuck of hundreds of Xian sects, each one claiming they alone speak for God. The Pope, Pat Robertson, and that loon preaching from atop a crate in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Which one is right? In the God Business, they're ALL right.

Which is a pretty good situation for us atheists. As long as they're busy squabbling over the exact color of God's pajamas or whatever, they don't have much time left over to bother us.

There always seems to be enough common ground to hate atheists.

The notion I would would worship myself is ridiculous. While personal responsibility and value of oneself is definitely important, worship is quite a few levels above that. There's something wrong there.

Not to mention all the other problems that come with being a self-worshipping deity: what holy book would I have? Should daily goat sacrifices be mandatory? Is there an "anti-me" like a devil? (Note: if I'm ever a god I am totally getting an archnemesis--it sounds badass.) And as far as I know, I am seriously lacking in the whole "godlike powers" thing.

It's all very confusing

Pumpkin eyedrop keyboard jellyfish. Ergo, who so ever toasted marbles can hashtag umpires.

Therefore, when you tag-team Roman numeral cage fighters, lucky bamboo hold music for arteries and sharpie markers.

Makes as much sense as the op

so I have no idea what you're talking about.

Take a 3 letter word G-O-D and give it any definition you like and voilà! You have a new word that no other human being can understand. How convenient.

I think my definition for god is "sandwich"

"In the beginning was the word and the word was sandwich, and the same was in the beginning with sandwich."

It'll make a good holy book.

It is true that I believe in myself, but I have a lot of evidence that I exist.

I'm not sure I'd agree that the act of thinking makes one inherently religious.
