Awkward dinner table moment, "anti vac idiots" edition.

I'm on vacation and it is a family affair, so we were sitting around the dinner table with my sister's family and mine and the subject of measles came up, and one of my kids (well he's 22, not quite a kid anymore) piped up along the lines of "what sort of idiots don't vaccinate their kids", as he has been raised right by proper skeptics.

AWKWARD.

It turns out my sister didn't "fully vaccinate" her kids, and her houseguest's parents didn't have her vaccinated at all. The houseguest's parents and my sister both lived in LA and both went to the same pediatrician who told them it was optional because it is fucking California, land where Woo is everywhere and one of the centers of the resurgence of measles.

Anyway it is all good, no permanent harm done to relationships.

Parents who claim a religious exception should send their kids to that religion's schools. California needs to get with the program and require vaccinations in all kids who go to public school. It's the only way to overcome all the idiotic woo floating around that state and parading as New Age wisdom.
