Sanders doing better among AA in Michigan than he has elsewhere

While Hillary has been winning the AA vote in the neighborhood of 4:1 and more in the south, she's apparently only winning that vote about 2:1 in Michigan, which may validate Sanders' position that he thinks he may do better among AA in the north, which can help keep him more competitive against Hillary in the other northern states that will be coming later in the schedule. Those who have completely written off Sanders' appeal to the AA community may have spoken too soon.

CNN commentator Van Jones also made an interesting point about AA home ownership, particularly in the north... that many lost tremendous equity in the housing crash, and Sanders' take on Wall Street plays favorably to that part of the AA community as well. Which is kind of interesting especially in light of how we have been discussing the difficult trade-off between saving the auto industry with a bailout tied to a less popular TARP bailout of Wall Street.

Hillary's firewall with AAs isn't holding in the industrial states, apparently.

And conservative religion in northern Black communities is not entrenched like it is in the south.

That they aren't happy with either candidate. Yesterday they wrote stuff like, "Which bad choice do I go with?"

...Hillary and Bernie would not seem to be terrible options. I mean, at least here on DU, AA folk seem to be pretty happy with one or the other (though not all agreeing about which), I don't remember seeing posts unhappy with both. Did they mention anyone else they wish were running instead? Did they mention any other non-AA possibility they would have been happy with?

I don't know if they ever were into Bernie, and maybe they weren't all that into Hillary either? I don't think African Americans feel a need to vote for an AA candidate.

I didn't dig into it, but with how much pro-Bernie stuff was coming from my white friends, it was a very noticeable difference. On one side it was post after post of "I just voted! I feel the Bern!!!!!" (With a few very pro-Hillary posts too, but very pro-somebody in either case.) And on the other side, mainly subdued messages like "I guess I'll go vote now" and "I am on my way to vote but I'm still not sure who I'll vote for."

I just meant that it's easier to see the appeal of, say, a Cory Booker, it would have been no surprise to see enthusiasm there. But if you're "stuck" with a white candidate, I'm not sure who would generate much more enthusiasm than the options that are on the table, and I was curious if any names came up.
