I think she genuinely admires Hillary to be sure, but beyond that I have no theory as to why she's so in the tank for HRC. You'd think, based on policy, she'd be pro-SBS, but it's abundantly clear that she's not.

Regardless. She's entitled to her opinion and I respect it. I just don't like seeing it aired so openly on national TV. JMO.

Rachael doesn't seem 'in the tank' for Clinton to me. She seems like she tries to be fairly neutral on the Democratic side and seems very warm with Sanders when she's interviewed him.

I think they were perplexed at the polling and their own predictions. Truthfully I thought the conversation was pretty lively talking about why Clinton lost. I heard lots of mention of her trustworthiness issue and even whether she should could be trusted to not go back on her word w/ the TTP and stuff.

The problem with Rachel is that she grew up and sold out. My brother and I noticed this phenomenon in the Reagan era of the 1980s. People who before that time were idealists suddenly appeared on television selling the very product that the week before they were complaining about. When you are making a six figure salary, and you get to be seen with the rich and famous, and your job depends on espousing the corporate line, you start to see the “value” of the corporate line where you didn’t before. Rachel has in fact become a media whore.

If they wanted to keep doing what they were doing, they have to play along and move to the center or right of center - fishing for ratings and top exec support. If not, they can join Melissa Harris-Perry and watch MSNBC from home.

Sometimes I think there is a secret Wall Street of Elections, where elections here, there and everywhere get bought, sold and traded among the Elect. I won't go on. I get a little too ct sometimes. Still, it IS possible, with our current, largely unverifiable, PRIVATIZED vote counting systems almost everywhere.

I didn't know about the different counting methods in MA. I suspect you're right. The electronic vote counting systems are kind of like the health care system--all of it made so complicated and technical, ordinary citizens can't understand it. That is a signature of privatization.

Wed Mar 9, 2016, 01:08 AM
Mar 2016

Official press release from Office of Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
Date: Feb. 3, 2016
Original Press Release
Brown Statement on Trans-Pacific Partnership Signing
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today issued the following statement ahead of the signing of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

“Ohioans have seen the devastating impact of free trade agreements on our economy. Our factories shutter and our workers lose their jobs. But TPP is even worse for manufacturers than previous agreements. It was written by multinational corporations to the detriment of our workers. And while it’s already the largest trade agreement ever negotiated, it will only continue to grow as countries like China have the opportunity to dock onto the agreement in the future. It lacks enforceable currency standards and will undermine the North American auto supply chain’s companies and workers.

“While today’s signing may be a victory for the corporations who negotiated this deal behind closed doors, it is a major loss for American workers. TPP must still be approved by Congress. When TPP has its day on the Senate floor, I will do all I can to block this agreement, which will hurt workers in my state and across the country.”

they did one short segment where they went remote to the Sanders camp, then quickly transitioned back to "All GOP All The Time".

The story line they are playing out now?

"Sanders takes a close one in Mich ... Hillary wins in a landslide in Miss"

Not a single mention as to the the significance of the Sanders win and the historic turn around. And now back to GOP news.

Fuck MSNBC has become such a crap "news" station. Cowards are all afraid if they mention Bernie more than twice an hour they will be fired.

Wed Mar 9, 2016, 01:17 AM
Mar 2016

Peter Beinert and Van Jones no excuses - good analysis. The others - Gloria Borger(?) OMG! I so hope Bernie sharpens his debate skills. He's got to do better tomorrow night. Just talking about Hillary's cheap shots put him in hard position. Does he react angrily, give back cheap shots, just call her out? Kind of depends on the hosts a bit.
e
He has so many specifics he can throw at her but he keeps going back to the same message. If he wants to message getting the middle class back which is his main message, show how that will help black americans the most. Appointing honest administrators to regulatory agencies will help poor people like in Flint the most. He doesn't do that.

Monty Python skit--yes, apt (see above). Say, "The Dead Parrot." Just thought of that one. (Customer trying to return a dead parrot to the the pet store he bought it from. Clerk tries to deny that it is dead.)

But my favorite is "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." (See above.) The journalists have been snatched, messed with in an icky vegetable and turned into Pod People!

How things are covered, not covered, or covered-up on M$M in real time
effect all the other variables -- more than we would like admittedly. I
try not to expect anything much in the way of real journalism .. yet I am
sometimes pleasantly surprised.

M$M absolutely needs to be balanced, fact-checked, and supplemented by
doing one's own research on-line, social media, alternative media (like TYT,
Democracy Now, et, al.) and the like.

I just found that my blood pressure went down, once I quit watching. I get most of my news links here at DU, or other websites.

Every now and then, I listen to Lester Holt report the evening news. No inflection, no commentary...I kind of like it that way. I can smile or frown all by myself, without any prompting. I don't feel that I need them to shape my opinion.

Wed Mar 9, 2016, 06:26 AM
Mar 2016

It's only, what? Approx. 90%?
They could ramp it up another 5% without their audience even noticing.

For the rest they could fill in with shots of Hillary looking "presidential", which Hillary has down pat, adding an explanation that she's the formidable front runner and no opposition candidate exists or ever existed in past or future, except some ridiculous figure conjured to "push her to the left" for the "campaign".

Sounds like a plan, to me.

Mar 2016

Evening News Show with Harry Trump, and Nina and Tina Trump (twins). Spectacle graphics, triumphant music featuring trumpets, photos of Trump and $100 bills blown up real big in the background. Zoom in on the three Trump talking heads who announce..."Donald Trump successfully picked his nose today, twice, on his private jet flying out of Ronald Reagan International!" Audience wildly clapping. Zoom out. Nobody in the studio. Zoom in. Talking heads: "Continuing with the successful nose picking...". Distant, distant, way far away shot of Hillary's queenly smile. Talking heads: "And the woman Donald Trump will crush today with his bare hands..." (Ten pix of Trump's hands in various poses.) "The hilarious Queen of the Losers, smiled at a camera. Back to Donald Trump and his epic nose-picking. Look at those hairs!"

Then maybe Bernie is seen crawling quietly into the studio, unnoticed, and edges in behind the display table where Harry, Nina and Tina are celebrating celebrity snot...

And then, well...use your imagination!
