Some are attributing Bernie's strength to the debates.
Back on Feb 3 (in the post at http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511133521 ) I argued that agreeing to more debates was a big gamble for Hillary. You may remember, she wanted another debate before New Hampshire, and in return, Bernie extracted from her an agreement to more debates later (including the one this past Monday in Flint).
The calculus seemed to be, for Hillary, if she could use the extra pre-NH debate to flip NH, she could likely put Bernie away, and the rest of the debates wouldn't much matter. But the problem for her was that, if she didn't flip NH, she would be giving Bernie a lot more opportunity to battle her later.
As I said then, "we'll know who got the better of this deal once we see who wins NH." It looks like Hillary indeed made the wrong choice.

(11,972 posts)...that had been added to the schedule when Hillary wanted an extra NH debate (and I updated my OP to clarify that). And it looks like that debate may very well have helped him quite a bit! Even if, in part, because of Hillary's own auto bailout accusation, which seems like it may have backfired. If nothing else, it allowed him to emphasize his objection to the Wall Street bailout, which may have played well.
Did you see where Fox was originally trying to make it a Sander-Trump debate? That would have been wild! See http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511444020
