2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumNC manufacturing was decimated by NAFTA, etc.
The textile and apparel industry was destroyed while the furniture industry was hurt badly. NC is/was one of the top manufacturing states in the country. While the jobs lost here did not pay as well as those in Michigan, the losses still hurt.
I think the anti NAFTA, anti TPP message might play very well here for Sanders. A stop or two by him in NC plus an ad or two might help a lot.
A win here is difficult, but I think he could close the gap with his populist message. And his honesty. Being too clever by half is hurting Clinton, even among those planning to vote for her.
BTW NC has a new voter ID law and other restrictions with this election.

(6,110 posts)A mention of NC in the debate should get extra mentions in the local press.
Also, the Latino vote is important in NC (8%). The latest poll shows Sanders with a large lead in that community.
