2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumwho is planning on watching tonights debate? and what do think will happen?
i am not sure i am going to watch. after the angst of waiting for last nights result, i might need a break. plus, the young turks are doing "members only" coverage, and the cable channels are insufferable.
as to a prediction, i just don't know. clinton could lash out as she sometimes does when threatened. otoh, she might have realized trashing bernie was a losing tack and things might be quite pleasant.
thoughts?

Lucinda
(31,170 posts)She increased her lead, and she doesn't take things for granted.
Bernie and Hillary are much better behaved than many Dem supporters.

(11,101 posts)I'm spinning that? When she said of Obama's church supported Hamas, I'm spinning that? When she tied Obama to Bill Ayres because they both served on the board of the Woods Fund, I'm spinning that? When she repeatedly tied Obama to "slum lord Tony Rezko", I'm spinning that? Here claim that "hard working white Americans" would never support Obama, I'm spinning that? Wow. Those are just off the top of my head. Not her style. Got it.

(3,017 posts)and willing to let the industry and all the jobs disappear. There were multiple votes. Bernie opposed the one that was 99% banks and 1% auto companies, but supported a separate auto company bailout package. Bernie said that was false and all the fact checkers have said it was false. He could have made that more clear during the debate and had to respond and do some local advertising in Michigan to clarify it.

(4,176 posts)Bernie would not knowingly do that kind of thing, I dont think he would anyway.
I wish she wouldn't do that stuff, but I am not surprised and the folks on the right are far far worse.

(47,803 posts)I need a break from it all, but I'm curious how it will go with the (most recent) shift in dynamics of the race.

(47,209 posts)I feel like Bernie will do well coming off Michigan victory. Hopefully both have recovered their voices.

(47,209 posts)I think there are more outlets for this one, since it is CNN + Univision. Plus if you watch with us, you ignore the pundits.

(47,209 posts)The debate begins at 9 p.m. Eastern and will be shown on Univision, CNN and Fusion.
Online
There are also plenty of free options to view the debate online, with the websites of Univision, CNN, The Washington Post and Fusion streaming it live.

I will watch news clips and follow along on the DU.

How can there be debates? I thought Clinton was inevitable and that Bernie should drop out of the primaries if he lost Michigan....oh wait...nevermind!
LisaM
(27,759 posts)There have been plenty of debates and I never said anyone should drop out. But two debates and a town hall in four days seems a little excessive to me (of course, I can't watch two out of three, since they're too early).
But anyway, it was meant to be a joke.

(301 posts)I've already voted and there's little entertainment value. I will be watching the GOP debate though. They've been great political tv so far.

(3,017 posts)I will be watching. My guess is that if the DNC has the control I suspect they do and given that it is a Univision forum in Miami, they might try to get the questions focused on subjects away from trade and Wall Street where Hillary is most vulnerable and things tend to get contentious. Immigration, bilingual education, things like that. They can pick the audience questions based on the topics they want. The DNC is going to try to stack the deck with an audience that is very friendly for Hillary.

(1,890 posts)She will have something where she will tell half the story and try to make Bernie look bad. It will be some issue where she can get more bang for her buck so to speak. Some lie that will help her in multiple states. Let's see she needs Independents and younger voters...I wonder what it will be? Or maybe her polling in Florida shows Bernie making inroads into "her" voters. Maybe she'll go at him that way. Whatever it is you can bet it will be twisted.
