In a letter to Robert Cohen, the groups president, released on Friday afternoon, Sanders wrote that while he would very much have enjoyed speaking at the AIPAC conference, like all of the remaining presidential candidates, his campaign schedule made it impossible for him to attend in person.
Since AIPAC has chosen not to permit candidates to address the conference remotely, Sanders added, the best that I can do is to send you a copy of the remarks that I would have given if I was able to attend.
Michael Briggs, his communications director, confirmed that an offer to speak via video link was rejected.

(47,803 posts)I'm sure if AIPAC were so "disappointed" and "concerned" they would have let him speak by video.

(10,143 posts)he's not required to stay for the duration. As much as I despise AIPAC they are an influential organization with a lot of visibility. Bernie complains all the time about lack of media exposure but he won't go to events like AIPAC that will give him a lot of exposure and he won't do interviews with local news in Az where he desperately needs a win.

(10,476 posts)And I wish she would too, to be honest; 99% of our politicians bend the knee before Israeli lobbyists and it is sickening. I am all for Israel and all that, though they have issues with their own extremist loons too (Yeshiva students and settler extremists).
AIPAC sucks, and has entirely too many hooks in Democrats and Republicans alike.
