2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPeople are already sleeping outside the venue for Bernie rally Sunday!
It's a party!
Vancouver Washington, at the Hudson Bay High School. Local news just reported that people are already there because it's first come first served. When Bernie appeared across the river in Portland last year, 28,000 people came.
The town will be rocking!

Kalidurga
(14,177 posts)absolutely no surprise there. A friend of mine moved there from Minneapolis says it's a way more liberal city. Minneapolis is about 70% Liberal, although the vote doesn't always go that way.

(27,794 posts)Seattle is filling up quickly with overpaid tech workers and housing costs are insane. Yet I'd bet a lot of people at the rally were young tech workers. It will be interesting to watch the news tonight.
senz
(11,945 posts)probably even worse than Seattle, as these are tech workers who live in the very expensive city and commute in special buses south to silicon valley tech employers. Resentment is quite high among older (often poorer) SF residents.
Did you read the NYTimes article a few months ago on how Amazon treats its workers? Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, which is headquartered in Seattle, treats them like dirt. The article said it is not unusual to see people weeping at their desks. Very upsetting article.
Bezos bought the Washington Post a couple of years ago and now they run pro-Hillary pieces and hit jobs on Bernie.
I don't know what will happen in Seattle. I lived there years ago when it was still affordable. It was charming.
LisaM
(27,794 posts)Seattle will need to work harder not to become SF. Anazon has tsken over downtown, luxury apartments being built everywhere, evictions going up. Ick.
senz
(11,945 posts)we will start on our path toward a more just society. So, over time, things will be changing for the better. Because somebody has to set about reversing the damage done by Reaganomics, and he's the only one with the will to do it.

(50,130 posts)There were about twenty people in attendance, and they all looked bored to tears, with their hands folded and zero expressions.
And then she uses the money to finance Rovian tactics (cheating) which in the general election will not work because the Republicans are so much better at stealing elections!
The Hillary supporters say that the Bernie supporters MUST vote for Hillary; however, since she will have lied and cheated her way to the nomination if she gets it and since she CAN NOT win the general election, why would we vote for her???!!!
If I were elderly, poor, a person of color, etc., I would be a fool to vote for her. The Clintons have already eviscerated these groups. They vote for her at their own peril.
Politicalboi
(15,189 posts)Remember that the Clinton's are suppressing the vote when they visit polling places. Show them now and later you don't like it. Vote for the one who didn't cheat against us to win. We would have to be fools to support her now.

(3,128 posts)Used to be that the limit was 5% then Kentucky went...what was it...19% or more in the last election for governor. I do not know why no one acts. How many of us signed the petition for the attorney general of Mass. to arrest Bill Clinton and that went nowhere. Other than Iowa, where the coin tosses appear to have been rigged, Hillary does not win any caucuses where it is more difficult to rig the outcome. Then look at the expat vote: 70% Bernie and 30% Hillary.
We are not stupid! Why would we vote for a cheater? We are NOT Republicans!!!!!

She's the corporate candidate, the big media candidate, the entrenched Dem party candidate already. So they know that's what counts and they've got it in the bag.
Those Yuge crowds for Bernie are the "dreamers" and the "children," --people with no clout, no influence. No power except for numbers.
senz
(11,945 posts)They're smug, power hungry, hierarchical, and corrupt.
What's not to love about that??
marions ghost
(19,841 posts)...because they're smarter than us. We're delusional to want anything better.
This really is like dealing with a Republican attitude. Feels so familiar.
That's why many among us are saying "no to all."
senz
(11,945 posts)dealing with Republicans. Same attitude. Same, actually, "Bro" attitude: brash, superior, arrogant, insensitive, triumphant, dominant.
It's ironic that they accuse us of that, when it fits them to a T.
That, alone, would make be balk at joining their forces. But of course there are stronger reasons, not the least of which is their candidate.

Don't get me wrong it's my city, and I love, love it here but WA will go to Sanders, Hillary will get some delagates of course. It won't change the ultimate outcome, but it will be a good day for those who support Sanders and want good news.

(11,945 posts)The other candidate has the MSM, but Bernie has the people.
Sadly, though, those who don't know how or don't have time to find non-MSM sources of information are being misled about the two candidates.
We'll just have to keep working on it with Twitter, Facebook, internet message boards, word of mouth, and rallies.
We ARE the grassroots.

(7,393 posts)So no sour grapes here. Bernie specializes in talking AT people. Hillary specializes in talking WITH people. Some people prefer to be screamed at, have an old man shake his finger at them, whatever. But not the majority.
senz
(11,945 posts)Bernie give speeches to tens of thousands of enthusiastic Americans who WANT to hear what he has to say.
Hill has private soirees with wealthy donors.
MaggieD
(7,393 posts)And he is losing the popular vote by 2.75 million so far. In addition, he would lose badly in a general election after all his socialist (and yes, communist) statements were made public by Republicans.
Bernie will not be president because we, the people, will not even nominate him let alone elect him.

Yeah, I'm sure all those young voters will eventually realize that compromising with repukes is the best way to bring about change. Not.
Like I said, it's a movement, an extension of Occupy Wall Street, and it will continue.
Again, >IT'S NOT ABOUT HIM<. "Finger shaking" "screaming"
