Besides which, we just got this agreement, so it's not as though nothing has changed.

And If Netanyahu reall wants to bomb Iran anyway, why doesn't he just go ahead and do it? Why is he so arrogantly insistant that rest of the world support him on doing this?

It wouldn't make any difference in the results of the bombing if he had global back-up versus if he didn't.

And he really has no right to ever ask for US support for an Israeli strike against Iran OR to demand that the US actually bomb Iran ourselves. We don't owe him that.

Fri Mar 25, 2016, 07:58 AM

It's just that, when we restored the Shah, we as Americans forever lost any right to lecture Iran as a country on anything or to claim moral superiority to Iran on anything. I assume you'll agree that we should never have overthrown Mossadegh in 1953.

Iran has a bad government, but nothing good can ever come of the US confronting that government. We've been implacably hostile to it since 1979, and if that hostility has achieved nothing there so far, that proves it never can achieve anything.

We already know that no US intervention there can ever have any progressive, democratic or humane results.

I do oppose Iran being repressive. It's a good sign that moderates won the last election. We need to leave this to the Iranian people. Change there can only be legitimate it it involves no one but the Iranians themselves. Bombing Iran(it would never just be an attack on one site) would hurt the democracy movement.

And I respectfully criticize the Israeli government when it oppresses the Palestinians. I don't oppose the existence of Israel. Nothing I have ever posted against there was essential to Israel's survival as a country OR the safety of the Israeli people.

The occupation and the settlements do nothing but harm to Israel and Israelis, and do nothing but make it harder to end the conflict.

If you care about Israel, you should be passionately anti-Netanyahu, anti-settler, and anti-right wing.

15. I applaud Hillary for being open and honest about embracing the neocon agenda
Tue Mar 22, 2016, 11:49 AM
Mar 2016

We all know that Hillary is a neocon. The founder of the neocon movement, Robert Kagan, endorsed Hillary a few weeks ago. He could have picked crazy Rubio or scary Cruz, but he endorsed Hillary.

I mean, when the principal architect behind the PNAC/neocon agenda wants you for President--I think the cat is pretty much out of the bag.

It makes sense. Hillary did pick Kagan to be one of her foreign-policy advisers while she was Secretary of State. These two share an "interventionist" mindset. They're both committed to the neocon plan that Kagan and the rest of the warmongers outlined in the plan "Rebuilding America's Defenses."

That plan lists Iraq, Syria, Libya and Iran as the targeted countries that they would like to destroy via war; and Hillary handed them Libya.

Seriously though. I think we can all see the silver lining in Hillary's AIPAC speech. At least she's not pulling the same bull that she did with her Wall Street talking points. She fully denies that the millions in Wall Street campaign contributions AND speaking fees--will affect her in ANY way! Remember when she invoked 9/11 to justify these campaign bribes?

Maybe this is a new honest approach for Hillary!

If so, we maybe she'll decide to release those Wall Street speeches.

that we have a Democratic presidential candidate who is a full-blown neocon.

The Democrats were once fully united on being against Bush's lie-based war. And they're all lie-based wars.

It's just very bizarre to see this snake slither into our party and take up residence.

And if you notice, when people do discuss her war-centric policies and actions--her supporters rarely respond. As you said, they either don't understand Middle East politics or they agree with wars for profit--and are ashamed to publicly admit it.

This is why electing Bernie is so important. He doesn't subscribe to the neocon agenda.

2008[edit]

On Israel's 60th birthday, Ahmadinejad said:

“ Those who think they can revive the stinking corpse of the usurping and fake Israeli regime by throwing a birthday party are seriously mistaken. Today the reason for the Zionist regime's existence is questioned, and this regime is on its way to annihilation."[14] ”

Ahmadinejad also stated that Israel has reached the end like a dead rat after being slapped by the Lebanese. Later, he said: The Zionist regime is dying, and The criminals imagine that by holding celebrations (...) they can save the Zionist regime from death. Ahmadinejad also stated that They should know that regional nations hate this fake and criminal regime and if the smallest and briefest chance is given to regional nations they will destroy (it).[15]

In his address to the 2008 United Nations General Assembly, Ahmadinejad said that today the Zionist regime is on a definite slope to collapse.[16]

Hamas Charter (1988)

Main article: Hamas Covenant
Article 7 of the Hamas Covenant provides the following quotation, attributed to Muhammad:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews."[136]
Article 22 states that the French revolution, the Russian revolution, colonialism and both world wars were created by the Zionists or forces supportive of Zionism:

"You may speak as much as you want about regional and world wars. They were behind World War I, when they were able to destroy the Islamic Caliphate, making financial gains and controlling resources. They obtained the Balfour Declaration, formed the League of Nations through which they could rule the world. They were behind World War II, through which they made huge financial gains by trading in armaments, and paved the way for the establishment of their state. It was they who instigated the replacement of the League of Nations with the United Nations and the Security Council to enable them to rule the world through them. There is no war going on anywhere, without having their finger in it."[294]
Article 32 of the Covenant refers to an antisemitic forgery, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion:

"Today it is Palestine, tomorrow it will be one country or another. The Zionist plan is limitless. After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying."[136]

Statements by Hamas members and clerics to an Arab audience

In 2008, Imam Yousif al-Zahar of Hamas said in his sermon at the Katib Wilayat mosque in Gaza that "Jews are a people who cannot be trusted. They have been traitors to all agreements. Go back to history. Their fate is their vanishing."[156][295]

Another Hamas legislator and imam, Sheik Yunus al-Astal, discussed a Koranic verse suggesting that "suffering by fire is the Jews' destiny in this world and the next." He concluded "Therefore we are sure that the Holocaust is still to come upon the Jews."[156][295]

Following the rededication of the Hurva Synagogue in Jerusalem in March 2010, senior Hamas figure al-Zahar called on Palestinians everywhere to observe five minutes of silence "for Israel's disappearance and to identify with Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa mosque". He further stated that "Wherever you have been you've been sent to your destruction. You've killed and murdered your prophets and you have always dealt in loan-sharking and destruction. You've made a deal with the devil and with destruction itself – just like your synagogue."[296][297]

On August 10, 2012, Ahmad Bahr, Deputy Speaker of the Hamas Parliament, stated in a sermon that aired on Al-Aqsa TV:

If the enemy sets foot on a single square inch of Islamic land, Jihad becomes an individual duty, incumbent on every Muslim, male or female. A woman may set out [on Jihad] without her husband's permission, and a servant without his master's permission. Why? In order to annihilate those Jews.... O Allah, destroy the Jews and their supporters. O Allah, destroy the Americans and their supporters. O Allah, count them one by one, and kill them all, without leaving a single one.[298][299][300][301]

In an interview with Al-Aqsa TV in September 12, 2012, Marwan Abu Ras, a Hamas MP, who is also a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, stated (as translated by MEMRI):

The Jews are behind each and every catastrophe on the face of the Earth. This is not open to debate. This is not a temporal thing, but goes back to days of yore. They concocted so many conspiracies and betrayed rulers and nations so many times that the people harbor hatred towards them.... Throughout history – from Nebuchadnezzar until modern times ... They slayed the prophets, and so on.... Any catastrophe on the face of this Earth – the Jews must be behind it.[302]

Unless you promise them all the money and weapons they want, no questions asked, they question your level of support, and turn to someone who is vocally and zealously in their corner. As president, of course, Clinton will put some muscle behind the rhetoric, but it probably won't go as far as bombing Iran. It's typical for presidents to go "full Zionist" in their speeches, then back away in their actions. I certainly hope this proves true in Clinton's case. If her actions match her words, we are in for a rough ride.

Hillary is a phony. I can spot 'em a mile away. Don't expect her to honor her campaign promises, whatever they are. She really only campaigns that she's "qualified" - well that's the same argument that went around in 1960. Nixon was oh so qualified, and Kennedy wasn't.

We know how that all turned out. Kennedy saved the planet in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Nixon slumped out of the White House in perpetual disgrace. Qualifications and experience aren't everything, or even near as important as people presume. McCain was more qualified than Obama. Steven Douglas was more qualified than Lincoln. Their qualifications didn't mean squat.

If all Hillary has to hawk are her experience and qualifications, it's a loser argument.

218. Does anyone remember when the Clinton's loved Arafat?
Thu Mar 24, 2016, 08:49 PM
Mar 2016

What happened to their support for the Palestinian people?

It has not been a good month for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Not only is Bernie Sanders coming up on her in the clubhouse turn, but Hillary’s recently exposed emails reveal praise for professional anti-Semite Max Blumenthal. The likes of this sort of praise have not been seen since the notorious David Duke commended Blumenthal for exposing the evils of Zionism despite his Jewish name and Jewish face.

In all fairness, Hillary’s praise was for Blumenthal’s earlier book, “Republican Gomorrah,” where Max showed that his contempt for Christians could rival his contempt for Jews. We should remember that Max’s father, Sidney Blumenthal, has been a longstanding, trusted advisor to the Clinton brand. And Sidney has had no hesitation in publicly and actively defending his son’s most recent anti-Semitic screed, “Goliath.”

This is not Hillary’s first rodeo with an anti-Semitic theme. Immediately after Suha Arafat (Mrs. Yasser) publicly launched an anti-Semitic blood libel at a public forum, accusing Israeli soldiers of shooting Palestinian children for their body parts, Hillary was out the gate to give Suha a warm hug, as if affirming the veracity of her statement.

Jewish liberals, in lock step with Hillary’s own convoluted explanation of this outrage, rendered this exquisite rationale for Hillary’s behavior—Mrs. Arafat must have lectured in Arabic, and Hillary did not understand what she said. Clinton would eventually go that route and try to save face and blame it on a mistranslation in her ear. Nonetheless, “in the Middle East,” Mrs. Clinton said, “a kiss is a handshake.”

Do anti-Israel Emails From Hillary's Inner Circle Show Her True Colors?

From an ex ambassador's suggestion to support Palestinian protests to a senior advisor forwarding his son's anti-Zionist articles, emails sent to Hillary Clinton raise questions about the presidential candidate's views on Israel.

The latest round of emails has stepped up the ire aimed at Clinton’s association with Sidney Blumenthal, the journalist-turned-advisor, who was not in the State Department, but received consultancy fees from the Clinton Foundation. Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, a friend and associate of Republican kingmaker and Netanyahu backer Sheldon Adelson has been using social media to attempt to crowd-source funds to run an anti-Clinton ad in the New York Times, writing: “Friends, I urgently need your help to raise $37,500 to place a full-page ad in The New York Times and call on Mrs. Clinton to disassociate herself from Sid and Max Blumenthal.”

Before the emails were unearthed, it was a stretch for Boteach and his ilk to draw a line from Max Blumenthal, a controversial anti-Zionist author and journalist and activist hostile to Israel - to his father Sidney - and through to the Clintons.
