There was no Primary in AZ today (from Secretary of State's page)

Today was the Presidential Preference Election, not a Primary.

What is a presidential preference election?
The PPE is a preference election, whereby registered voters of participating, recognized political parties cast their vote for who they prefer the Arizona delegates cast their vote for at their party's national convention.

Is the presidential preference election a primary?
No, the PPE is not a primary election. The primary election will be held on August 30, 2016 and will not contain presidential/vice presidential candidates. The PPE is strictly a preference election and the only candidates that will appear on this ballot are presidential nominees from their respective political parties.

Can independent voters cast a vote in the presidential preference election?
No, only voters registered with a participating political party may vote in the PPE.

Do all recognized parties participate in the presidential preference election?
They might, but not always. Participation is voluntary per the party’s choice.

I'm on the permanent early voter list. Will I still get my early ballot for the presidential preference election?
Yes, if you are registered with a participating party you will automatically receive an early mail-in ballot if you are already signed up to receive an early ballot.

Will my polling place be the same for the presidential preference election as it is for all other elections?
Polling place locations are always subject to change, no matter what election is being held. For the PPE elections, polling places are consolidated. Make sure to check where your polling location is on VoterView before Election Day.

My post isn't misleading. The SecState's website is since EVERYONE calls this "the primary". I have two daughters who live there who did exactly what I demonstrated in the OP. So did I the first time I checked it.

It's no accident that the question on changing registration to vote in the primary contains no information that alerts independent potential voters to the non-standard use of "Primary".

I have lived in AZ all my life. I signed up for and receive emails and updates from the Hillary campaign. There were many reminders from them about where and how to vote, including encouragement to sign up for a mail in ballot. Maybe Bernie's campaign wasn't doing the same?

Somehow the Trump voters in this red state have figured it out. Sorry you and your daughters landed on the wrong webpage for info. on how the parties select their delegates.

When that is an indie's question, that is where they end up.

It is a deliberate and obvious way the parties' use to keep new blood out of the primary process.

Most of this state is run by Republicans.

We DO have a primary coming up in Aug. Your daughters may want to bookmark this page for future reference, including the status of provisional ballots.

been doing to help make sure that voters know what they need to know and have what they need to have in order to vote? People are still waiting to vote right now. I'm sorry. I don't care who's fault it is, it is shameful and the Democratic Party should have been doing something to make sure their voters could vote. There have been mishaps in several states. Either the Democratic Party is incompetent or corrupt and neither is acceptable.

It was the Bernie staff's job to inform their followers and

"make sure that voters knew what they needed to know and had what they needed to have in order to vote".

Maybe they need to revisit their game plan?

Between the twitter updates and emails from the Hillary campaign, I was well informed about the how, what, whens and wheres of today's election. I think that the Republican campaigns have done the same, because I'm not hearing complaints on our local news or online from their voters today.

Bernie has been all over this state giving speeches. Maybe his team forgot to inform his followers about the actual voting requirements?

But I think that each party should be able to decide, state by state, how their delegates are selected. I like that our party's candidates are awarded delegates on a proportional basis. The winner-take-all delegates approach doesn't seem as fair to me.
