What would be the "drop-dead date(s)" for the 'thugs to replace Trump as nominee...

...if he actually DOESN'T want to be president and decides he doesn't want to stay in the race?

Also, any theories as to what percentage of voters would write the guy in in November if he dropped out?

So says my crystal ball. Low visibility, partially obscured by the Olympics, semi-courteously timed to placate the FBI and the Republican Party, which will be able to field a new candidate before September, and before the Senate reconvenes and forces him to testify against himself.

That leaves Trump with plenty of time to announce the new Fall lineup of reality television shows on his new television network, funded in part by the Donald Trump No Longer for President 501(c)(4) charitable foundation, which automatically converts half a million political donors' irrevocable monthly donations into subscriptions for a library of Trump University videos on demand.

In short, it depends on the state's rules. Certain states might be force to keep his name on the ballet if after the deadline, but the electorate can vote for whomever the party nominates afterwards.

Suppose Trump quits in October. It’s too late to modify the ballots, but the RNC hastily meets on Skype and puts Paul Ryan’s name in the hat. It’s all over the news, and in some states, there could even be notices at polling stations: “Voting for Trump actually means voting for Ryan.” But still, those voters are pulling the lever by Trump’s name. What happens now?
The question, Persily explains, is whether state electors are pledged to the individual candidate, or to the party that nominated him or her.
“Would Donald Trump’s electors be able to vote for someone else in the Electoral College? Most states say yes—you vote for whoever the party has nominated.”

it would probably split the republican vote between him and the new nominee. I would believe his supporters are not like the Bernie supporters. I could be wrong.

But, what I think his goal is to win and be the dictator but have pence do the day to day hard work.

Ohio is August 20th. A bunch on September first if Wikipedia is correct. So essentially it cannot be done unless they are willing to gamble ceding NC. In my opinion it's over for replacements
