2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumUnofficial, unscientific, random yard sign poll
As in my previous posts, I drive the highways and byways of rural SW Washington and NW Oregon for work. I don't make into the big cities like Portland or Vancouver. To help pass the time, I count candidates yard signs. Here is last weeks total.
Hillary 3
Bernie 8
Trump 17
Gary Johnson 6
This is the first time I have seen Gary Johnson signs out there. Disaffected Bernie supporters? Disgusted Trumpians?

(44,998 posts)I saw one Hillary sign and one Johnson sign. No bumper stickers. I was expecting to see Trump everywhere. Friends say there are pockets of Trump visibility but on average it seems folks are ashamed to display their allegiance. Be careful of what we don't see.

(356 posts)Signs or stickers. They get defaced and my car gets vandalized. Ah Kentucky. I am sure millions more don't advertise their support for the same reason. The relative dearth of Clinton signs doesn't bother me. It lulls the morans into a false sense of security. Has anyone else been victimized for supporting Hillary? I am ready to change jobs because of harassment. This is done mostly by customers so I have no recourse.

(58,785 posts)understand that more of their neighbors, people like them and in many cases very close to them, disagree than they realize now, though.
I'm sorry about the seriousness of your harrassment. Political discrimination is very big and should be discussed far, far more than it is. People who would be shamed if people thought they were racial bigots think nothing of insulting and persecuting people on political grounds.
Btw, I live in what is considered to be one of a tiny handful of the most conservative districts in the nation. Can your Kentucky district match that?

(5,754 posts)and right after the Republican convention someone spoke to me. Him: Did you watch the convention? Me: Yes. Him: His children spoke so well. Me: Better than he did. No response.

(14,853 posts)I doubt that bumper stickers and yard signs have much effect anyway. They certainly never made me want to vote for some Republican.
It was bad enough when I drove a Prius and experienced large pick-up trucks riding on my bumper despite me driving well over the speed limit! They forced me to pull over to let them pass a few times. Then they slowed down!

(43,049 posts)There's a way they found out you support Hillary, and it may be best if you can close off that way. I doubt your boss would take kindly to your wearing a Hillary button at work, but something else you might be doing that tips them off?
If you can stick it out for a few more months, when elections are over, tempers usually cool down. Usually...

(7,638 posts)About voting for Clinton. I've talked to yard signs before, they are pretty closed minded. And the cops we very concerned that I talked to yard signs.
