Does Trump or Hillary have a position on autonomous driving or

semi-autonomus.

In the corporate boardrooms this is quite a battle between the been counters that want to get it to the market by going piece meal and the tech people who want to hold off until fully ready.

The tech group believes that semi-autonomous will be very dangerous because people will not pay attention as required.

In general, I view the development of autonomous vehicles to be a large improvement. Zynx Aug 2016 #2

That's not really it. There are all kinds of positions about the roll-out of autonomous driving among business and tech people. It's already significantly safer than human driving (the biggest problem being that humans keep plowing into autonomous cars that stop appropriately), but when, how, and where to roll it out involves a lot of variables.

In general terms, the sooner this happens the better, but how to get from here to there involves a lot of details.

Hey, it is technology. It will advance. Truckers will be out of work. Cabs will be computers. There will be few people who drive themselves. Eventually, insurance companies will penalize those who drive themselves.

"self-driving cars are a terrible and stupid idea that will only serve to promote and perpetuate the most inefficient mode of transportation there is, the single-passenger car. We're going to put an end to seventy years of subsidising the auto industry, which has been a policy decision that's contributed to suburban sprawl, pollution, and unsustainable fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions, in favour of promoting and funding infrastructure projects for fast and efficient intercity rail transport and infrastructure in our cities to enable more Americans to make short journeys on foot or by bicycle rather than by car." But I don't really expect anything sensible because policymakers seem to be in thrall to the bad idea of self-driving cars.
