Gingrich Calls Clinton Health Conspiracy Theories 'Junk Medicine'

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich brushed off conspiracy theories about the state of Hillary Clinton's health on Thursday as "junk medicine." During an interview on "Fox and Friends," hosts asked Gingrich what he thought about TV personality Dr. Drew Pinsky saying in an interview earlier this week that Clinton was not getting adequate healthcare. Pinsky called drugs used to treat a blood clot Clinton sustained in 2012 "old fashioned medicine."

"Both of us conclude that if we were providing the care that she was receiving, we'd be ashamed to show up at a doctor's lounge. We'd be laughed out," he said. It was unclear who else Pinsky was referring to.

Gingrich was not buying Pinsky's concerns, which have been happily repeated by conservative commentators. He said Pinsky's analysis should be probably taken with a grain of salt and that kind of over-analyzation could actually backfire on Donald Trump.

"With all due respect to television doctors, when you have a doctor who has never seen the patient, begins to give you a complicated, fancy sounding analysis based on what?" Gingrich said. "I mean, I would be very cautious and I would recommend to doctors for professional reasons to be very cautious before you start analyzing people. Because next you'll get a left-wing psychiatrist explaining Donald Trump in negative terms."
