Like, seriously coke fiendish.

Yes, it's shallow. I can't help it; I just needed to vent.

(58,785 posts)comes across as sweet, perky, and likable. (Something that the candidates she's chosen to associate with belies.)
I'd put "campaign manager" in quotes, though. She's traveling with him, presumably handling him, and interacting with the media to put a new face on the campaign. Some talking heads agreed no way could she be doing this and handling the whole of a campaign manager's many grueling tasks also. Of course, it's a rather...lean campaign.
Native
(5,936 posts)And I have to agree. She may not look like the typical Fox fembot, and she may not have the skills/experience to effectively manage the campaign, but she does know what to say on TV. I find that very concerning. I don't think anyone should think she's a lightweight.
And prior to working for Trump she had some very disparaging things to say about him:
http://mediamatters.org/research/2016/08/19/here-s-how-trump-s-new-campaign-manager-attacked-him-cable-news-pundit/212524
It bothers me that we would attack the way she looks. We have so much other material to attack, can we please leave her physical attractiveness out of it?
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)I thought oh, shoot! (Well, that's the general idea.)
As for the comments, I've also noticed that again and again more people than otherwise seem to feel a need to disparage and seemingly underestimate enemies. Since it's so common, it must serve a genuine purpose. Our on-line version of waving spears and yelling insults at the strangers on the other side of the meadow, perhaps.

(701 posts)By beltway journalists. Thanks for an intelligent post, hortensis. I admire smart women who make it in a man's game.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)the company she keeps suggests about her. Take a look at this, hard-core right-wing extremists every one:
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Newt Gingrich's former presidential campaign, Reps. Steve King and Michele Bachmann, Todd Akin, FreedomWorks, Americans for Prosperity, The Heritage Foundation, National Rifle Association, and Family Research Council.
And of course she recently ran a super PAC for extremist Ted Cruz, i.e., dark money, which was later rebranded the Defeat Crooked Hillary super PAC.
With that history there's no way she's not also connected to Charles Koch and his subversive alliance.
She's known Trump for a decade and now is tied in politically with him, Breitbart/Bannon's nationalist, racist extremism, and extremist right-wing billionaire Spencer and his daughter.
George Eliot
(701 posts)But she has the same choices we all do. I often wonder what attracts smart people to their candidates and causes. I'm okay with critiquing those things but not women for their looks. I can draw the line and admire her success and hard work but still wonder why she holds them. I felt the same about Phyllis Schafly. I cannot comprehend the motive of women who want to hold other women back or stuck in roles. Conway who has been molded in the modern age and in an age that allowed her to do what she's done so why such allegiance to a party that limits choices. Go figure. Maybe a niche that was open to women much like Blacks who find a niche in the Republican Party as well or the Log Cabin Republicans who find those niches profitable? Indoctrination by family values?

(15,365 posts)and here's one result. http://www.cosmopolitan.com/politics/news/a62994/kellyanne-conway-trump-new-campaign-manager/
Conway, 49, is a veteran political operative, who's spent the last three decades advising Republicans on how to appeal to female voters. In fact, she was already doing this for the Trump campaign before he tapped her to be his campaign manager.
I too dislike these no-context posts.

(701 posts)In a man's field. Beltway Dems describing her as methodical, smart, authentic and forthright last night on Diane Rehm's show. But then, you may not know Diane Rehm either. I thought misogyny was frowned upon here. Or is that only when it is aimed at democrats? I applaud what she has accomplished but then I've never trashed people. I guess I've never been shallow.
hamsterjill
(15,220 posts)Its not misogynistic.
It's sexist on her part in my opinion to be hawking Donald Trump's platform which platform is entirely bad for women.
So is it okay if I just don't like her?
Because whether it's okay or not, I don't like her.
Thanks for your thoughts. Hope you are having a great weekend.
George Eliot
(701 posts)But putting any woman down for her looks when she is smart and successful smacks of it. It even hints at envy. Nor is it sexist to support a candidate aligned with her party. That is her profession and her choice.
I'm having quite a nice weekend, thank you. And thanks for a respectful reply.
hamsterjill
(15,220 posts)I think she is successful at all because she has played the game for the good old boy network. She is submissive and has the looks that people like Donald Trump seem to want. She plays up those attributes. So I don't think her success is all about brain power.
She worked for a Cruz super PAC that went after Trump.
She has already been caught by the media (who rolled video evidence for her) complaining about Trump not releasing his tax returns. This was when she was working to get Cruz nominated.
Now, since she's on Trump's payroll, it's completely okay with her that Trump won't release his tax returns.
So, in my opinion, her integrity is sold to the highest bidder. And that means integrity is not an important thing to her.
It is to me.

"looks" that Trump likes? "caught by the media" BTW, do you mean "don't" think she's successful ...? And Trump is so stupid he just picks any blond off the TV set? You actually sound irrational. But have at it.
hamsterjill
(15,220 posts)Now that sounds like something a Trump supporter would say about a woman having an opinion.

lillypaddle
(9,580 posts)I used Urban Dictionary because Webster's doesn't define colloquial phrases. Because you've never heard it refer to a man doesn't mean other people haven't used it that way. I come from a part of the country where it is a common phrase used for both men and women. I HAVE NEVER heard it used as a homophobic slur. Nice try. Okay. (1,429 posts)just because you disagree with a woman does not give you carte blanche to invoke inherently sexist thematics, and you were also agreeing with a poster who was equally guilty, if not more so:

I find her creepy and calculating, and if anyone can speak about a woman in this campaign whom they don't trust - it's Miss Kellyanne.
betsuni
(25,384 posts)She depresses me. Keeping up that Republican ideal of attractiveness: too much bleach, restricted diet (probably doesn't touch oil or fat of any kind, one of the reasons her skin and hair looks papery dry) to keep thin except for the way out of proportion pumped-up bust. I assumed she was older than I am, shocked to find that she's about six years younger. Poor woman. I don't agree with the drug use diagnosis. She's a nervous perfectionist and doesn't eat.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)other than that is right. But. she is pure bullshit. she has the gift of bullshit. She trashed Trump not too long ago. And, yes, she does look strung out.

(4,229 posts)Reminds me of all the shit said about Hillary and even worse Chelsea and Amy Carter. People calling Michelle a gorilla and stuff.
She is great on TV and I certainly think that trying to lure more women to vote GOP is sort of a bad thing to do since the GOP has basically an anti woman agenda.
However personally attacking and insulting her for her looks or lifestyle sort of reminds me more of the way the GOP operates than dems.
