Am I missing something here?
Does anyone else think this whole "Obama paid ransom"! for our hostages meme a bit ridiculous?
As a part of the Iran Nuclear deal we made, the money was going back anyway. It was their money, after all.
It would have been imprudent and irresponsible, to say the least, if we had not waited for confirmation of our prisoners (not "hostages"
having left Iran before releasing their money.
I listened to Tweety go on and on about this last night to the point where I almost had to turn him off, and that's been happening more and more often lately. But, I digress.
A couple months ago the RW was whining endlessly about our not having gotten them back as part of the deal originally. Now it happens, we take precautions and this is somehow a ransom?
Much was made about the money being paid in cash when apparently we having no banking type relationship with them to accomplish this. Oh, and it was "in the middle of night", under the cover of darkness, unmarked plane, blah, blah.
You have to really have to stretch this quite a bit to turn it into a negotiating with terrorists type situation and the media, even MSNBC, seem quite willing to do this.
Big nothing-burger IMHO.

How is it ransom if we already owed them money? It just makes absolutely no sense. To compare it to a regular ransom payment situation is ludicrous. I'm 100% sure that Republicans would have treated this situation in the same exact way – holding the money owed as leverage. They're just trying to find another way to smear Obama.
