(5,049 posts)We have TV celebrities with sloppy reporting skills. Most will blindly bleat out some piece of propaganda without ever doing any fact finding or confirmation of the story on their own. They are far more interested in being "first" than being right.
We deserve better and it's time we demanded it.

(34,661 posts)As you mention,sloppy reporting skills,most of these people have zero writing skills to start with. In most TV operations,the Producer writes the script and the On Air Talent(so called reporter)just reads his or her I-Pad or Teleprompter. It has to be embarrassing for the so called field reporters today.

(5,049 posts)This all started when the big three networks folded their news operations into their entertainment divisions. Celebrities, talent, whatever... What they "ain't" is journalists.

(34,661 posts)a major metro TV Station. Great money,gave it up because of the Managements demand for a conservative negative spin on social stories. Writing lies was not his cup of tea.

(42,281 posts)Digging for truth is work, writing a coherent story is hard, writing bad about both sides of an issue shows "balance" and never mind if one side is true and the other false--you don't want to "look biased"!

(5,049 posts)Used to be a journalist needed two sources for the information to be considered factual. Laziness and cynicism have ruined the news and journalists are few and far between.
