Hillary Clinton's private emails reveal a time she schooled experts on an obscure scientific detail

The exchange (an email thread in 2010) begins when Rooney sends Clinton an updated draft of a speech, which the Secretary would deliver later the next day at the national conference for CARE, an organization that fights global poverty.

The speech "focuses on a chronically overlooked issue (nutrition)," Rooney writes, adding: "This is a speech that only you could give and a number of constituencies will be delighted by it."

In her reply, Clinton appears happy with the speech: "It is so much better — thank you," she writes. But then Clinton raises a number of questions. Most interesting, she catches what appears to be an error: "Is the Vitamin A research on p. 8 accurate given recent research that raised doubts about it [sic] efficacy?"

Hours later — and only minutes before Clinton was scheduled to speak — came a reply: "You were right about Vitamin A, no surprise (although a bit surprising that none of the experts noticed it)," Rooney writes. "I've changed it to oral rehydration therapy."

with "Winnebago's of death" and 'This is anthrax"!

Wake up America!

She is qualified and I also doubt a PDB on bin Laden would have been allowed to get lightly brushed aside as Rice allowed Bush to do!

Although I backed Obama over Hillary in 2008, and I backed Bernie Sanders over her this year; I now find myself admiring her more & more every day; and this OP is just one more example of why.

(I still think she should have chosen Sen. Warren as her running mate)

She's actually gotten down into the weeds of all these different topics and fine points and minutae that none of us have brushed up on or even know there's a subject or issue here to be talked about. Her familiarity AND expertise on topic after topic after topic, including some really obscure ones, is literally astounding.

I feel the same way, reading this, as I did after I read the L.A. Times interview with her during primary season. She got way down deep into details about a youngster with an ailment I'd never heard of - among many other topics about which she knew quite a bit. Not only did she know about the kid with the ailment, she knew all kinds of little details about it and its treatment. I had no idea. Had never even heard about it before. It was almost to the point of ridiculousness. I was quite incredulous. I thought "Shit - is there NOTHING this woman doesn't know?"

I want those brains in the Oval Office, dammit. Seated behind the Resolute Desk, dammit.

early primary state. I had already voted by the time the first debate occurred. When I watched that debate I noticed Hillary had such a grasp on issues right down to the minute detail, with very specific plans. That debate made me feel comfortable to vote for whoever won that primary.
