Am I the only one who thought that Hillary's speech was not exactly her best.
Let me clarify.
After listening to the craziness of Trump's speech, I needed to hear some sort of hard-hitting speech that would fully counter everything that Trump said. Yes, she did touch on most of the points, countering many of them.
Maybe I'm beginning to get really frightened of the idea that Donald Trump may actually have a chance. I'm not sure what I wanted to hear from Hillary. I just know that Trump's crowds are always large and he is applying a method of messaging that purposely confuses the listener, making any complete understanding of the Trump position impossible to nail down. This is dangerous. How do you counter crazy?
I'm just worried, that's all.

ON EDIT
--------------
Of course, we want reasoned and calm response to the craziness of Trump.
However...I'm saying that it doesn't necessarily work against "crazy." That's all.
On Edit:
Yes...to you and I, her speech made complete sense. But that is you and I and not necessarily the person in the middle that believes some or all of the Trump message.
On Edit 2:
After hearing Trump (who keeps raising the "crazy bar" - I was so pissed that my initial reaction was to fight fire with fire. I wanted him to be taken down.
On Edit 3:
I guess I just wanted her to be angry. I have seen Hillary angry and I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end. I know I was projecting. It is all my fear...Just can't imagine someone like Trump carrying the football.

ON EDIT

Okay..it is several hours later and I've read through the responses. How many ways do I have to say it!? I was wrong in my assessment of her speech. My anger towards Trump tainted my view of how I feel he should be handled. Yes...you are absolutely correct. A calm response is the best response.
Geeze, you would think I was some sort of Right Wing nut case by reading the responses. This is just further evidence that:
1) The written word is so easily misunderstood (without inflection and body language)
2) This place has changed.

(17,276 posts)the craziness on the right. We need sanity.
If a kid is having a tantrum, the mom shouldn't shout equally loud. Just assert authority and reason. And send him to his room!
I don't listen to a lot of HRC's speeches but did catch this one. (Don't have cable so had to get C-Span on the computer). I thought it was entertaining. Made me laugh. But didn't make me want to jump up and down and hoot! (good thing)

(797 posts)Hillaries speech was fine but there are a lot of people who like Trump, while polls put Hillary ahead its still not beyond the realms of possibility that Trump could get elected. what bothers me about that likelihood is that it would mean the majority of Americas voting public are rightwing Trumpests,They will destroy the country.

(5,636 posts)She not only made a superb progressive speech that relied heavily on facts, she presented herself in a calm and rational way, a wonderful contrast to Trump. Trump is the better hysteric. I think that's something Hillary is willing to concede to him.

She burned the fucking Trump campaign to the ground and pissed on the ashes in a remarkably ladylike fashion. Then she scooped up the piss-soaked ashes with a trowel, loaded them into a clown cannon and shot them into a toxic waste dump. Then she hopped into a fighter jet and strafed the dump. Then she took a space shuttle out of mothballs, strapped a nuclear warhead into it, flew up to the fucking International Space Station and then nuked the piss-soaked ashes of the dumped, bullet-ridden campaign from orbit.

(4,787 posts)really is, rather than angrily condemning his actions.
Unless one spends a great deal of time online, and spends a lot of that time reading political sites/social commentary, there's a good chance that they may not completely know what is going on with him. Breitbart.com is not as big of a household name as some may assume it is. While I know what their shtick is, I've personally looked at the site maybe three times altogether. I knew about Andrew Breitbart from here and other sites, of course, but I couldn't have previously named the current publisher, Bannon, if my life depended upon it.
I'm not really sure how many people even knew who David Duke was at this point, especially if they are younger voters who are not from the south. The KKK has not been the frequent subject of national news in a long time. Most of the 'modern' Kluckers 'transitioned' to 'white nationalist' groups, in a sorry-ass attempt to rebrand themselves as something other than thugs consumed by hate. (I suspect that younger voters are far more familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church cretins than they are with the current KKK).
So, I think that it was important for her to spell out exactly whom Trump has allied himself with, and to do so in a calm, instructive way. And since racism and bigotry should condemn themselves, at least to any truly decent person who knows what Trump is doing, she brought up those remarks by assorted past Republicans as a way of throwing down at the current Republican 'leaders' who, so far, seem perfectly willing to court catastrophe to take the presidency.
And I thought that she did it great.

You need not be so concerned. Hillary's doing her part, and doing it well.
