Trump's reason for visiting Mexico.

My two cents; he's going for the photo op.

Plain and simple, he's zooming into Mexico City to get some pics with Nieto that can be use for the next 70 days in commercials wooing Latino voters. This is no different than sending models to the beach for the SI swimsuit edition (and almost as cringeworthy).

There will be no policy discussions, no learning about issues between the two countries, no bridge building. It's a photo shot trip. Fly in, shake hands, click click, get back on the plane.

And they announced it so late that few, if any, of the US press corp will be a part of the trip. Great way to control the message.

My hope is that Nieto can avoid being a photo prop in this embarrassment. We'll see.

The prez of Mexico is not well liked in his own country. HE might be wanting a photo op. That is why he invited both Trump and Hillary.

13. That's true - assuming you believe everything you read on the internet is factual "schooling".

Of course many would read the opening phrase of the OP "My two cents..." to be a colloquial phrase often meaning "In my opinion..." or "I think..." or "WTF do I know but I'm tossing this out there in a discussion board to see what other think and what I might learn".

I learned something from another poster that I hadn't considered and acknowledged it cuz she/he was right. I couldn't have said "hell no - that's immaterial". I could have said nothing. Instead I said "hey - you gave me something to think about that I hadn't thought about before". And now I know more than when I posted the OP. So I feel better even if you don't.

I always thought of "being schooled" as when someone corrects me with indisputable facts. Like that time I posted about the moon being made of cheese and some guy claiming to be Neil Armstrong replied saying "No...been there...not cheese". OK...new fact vs. my opinion. So I was schooled, even though I don't think the guy was really Neil armstrong. lol

But seriously - what's your real point. From where I sit, sounds like you've got something to say that doesn't have anything to do with "schooling".

He, being a stickler for details and facts, wants to make sure his Cinco de Mayo claim about the Trump Grille's Taco Bowl wasn't just empty baseless misguided bullsh-t.

6. Hernan Cortez tried that with Emperor Moctezuma II

In his Historia, Bernal Díaz del Castillo states that on 1 July 1520, the Spanish forced Moctezuma to appear on the balcony of his palace, appealing to his countrymen to retreat. The people were appalled by their emperor's complicity and pelted him with rocks and darts. He died a short time after that. Bernal Díaz gives this account:

"Barely was the emperor's speech to his subjects finished when a sudden shower of stones and darts descended. Our men who had been shielding Montezuma had momentarily neglected their duty when they saw the attack cease while he spoke to his chiefs. Montezuma was hit by three stones, one on the head, one on the arm, and one on the leg; and though they begged him to have his wounds dressed and eat some food and spoke very kindly to him, he refused. Then quite unexpectedly we were told that he was dead."

I guess Peña Nieto wants to play to role of Moctezuma III to Donald's role as Cortez.
