Crist now says he has no time to visit Cuba

* Bomb threat or fear of backlash from Cubans and Venezuelans in FL, who knows.

http://tbo.com/news/politics/crist-changes-mind-wont-visit-cuba-this-summer-20140623/

Democrat Charlie Crist, who stirred debate by announcing he favors lifting the U.S. embargo against Cuba and would visit the island during his campaign for governor, said Monday he won’t be making the trip after all.

Crist’s campaign suggested the reversal is because it would be difficult to fit the trip into the four months and a few days remaining before the Nov. 4 election, but Crist also faced a political backlash from South Florida Democrats, many of whom back the embargo.

“Between now and November, Governor Crist is determined to spend as much time as possible meeting with Floridians to discuss creating a stronger economy for our middle class families,” said a statement from Crist campaign spokesman Brendan Gilfillan. “If at some point after the election there is an opportunity to travel there to learn from the people of Cuba and help find opportunities for Florida businesses the governor will go,”

The statement gave no further explanation for Crist’s change of heart.

If you weren't here during the Crist years, you know nothing.

Here's a hint: Crist was pushed out of the Republican party because he actually LISTENED to his constituents. He's more of a Democrat that any other FL state politician.

I'm voting for Crist, bottom line, end of subject. And yes he was much more moderate as a Governor than I thought he would be. And I voted AGAINST him when he ran for Governor!

Also, completely agree about what happened to him. Nasty stuff! I would have left the party too!

As I've said all along - the insane US sanctions against Cuba are bipartisan.

Especially egregious for S Fl. Dems since this causes harm to the S Florida economy most of all (not to mention the hardships to everyday Cubans in Cuba).

seem to be Nan Rich and Charlie Crist. I have not heard much about Rich as yet.
Whichever one wins the primary, that is who i will vote for, because anther four years of Scott will be bad for me, as I actually live in Florida.

Sorry, but voting for ANYONE but Crist will elect "the alien" Rick Scott! Just that simple. I've worked with local Democrats here and even THEY made me feel like an outsider! I DO live in a VERY RED District and I don't think a Democrat has ever been elected to Congress from here. Actually never researched it, but I know what I see and know THIS place is where Repukes come to get their BIG DONATIONS!

I'm not one of the very rich here, but they're everywhere around me!

And I give him some props for even suggesting that he'd visit Cuba.
