Poll: Americans predict more gridlock in full GOP control of Congress

Washington (CNN) -- Half of Americans believe Republican control of both chambers of Congress will be bad for the country, and a majority say it will in fact cause more gridlock in Washington, according to a new CNN/ORC nationwide poll.

But the poll also shows the Republican Party's brand has improved over the past year, and they now are only slightly less popular than the Democratic Party. Democratic Party approval levels, meanwhile, have remained static.

According to the survey, 50 percent of Americans believe the GOP taking control of the House and the Senate next year will be bad for America, and 52 percent expect it to lead to more gridlock. Another 37 percent, however, expect to see no difference in the levels of gridlock in Congress.

Sixty-eight percent of Americans polled say the GOP isn't cooperating enough with President Barack Obama, while 57 percent say it's Obama who's not cooperating enough with the GOP.

Unfortunately those of us that did vote have to deal with the same consequences.

The big problem is not us who may be upper/middle class, but the lower/middle class and the very poor who did not vote. This hopefully will be a learning experience, too a point. I don't believe much will be affected by this shift as long as Mr. Obama is in office for the next 2 years. I believe the major problem will be if complacency hits in 2016.... if that happens, the poor and lower income people will be placed in the "bin marked disposable", and will suffer the most. If complacency happens in 2016, the middle class and upper middle class will be affected, because our taxes will sky rocket over the total gutting of the ACA, and the poor will then treat the ER's as their primary medical facility again, which will in turn cause havoc.

Once they understand that, they'll turn out in overwhelming numbers. But since over half of the people in the country don't even seem to know who the Vice-President is, I don't see a big spike upwards in public awareness any time soon.
