Obama's message to 'Urban America' respect rural gun culture

"Part of being able to move this forward is understanding the reality of guns in urban areas are very different from the realities of guns in rural areas. And if you grew up and your dad gave you a hunting rifle when you were ten, and you went out and spent the day with him and your uncles, and that became part of your family's traditions, you can see why you'd be pretty protective of that."

ow, like the majority of Americans, I believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. And the courts have settled that as the law of the land. In this country, we have a strong tradition of gun ownership that's handed from generation to generation. Hunting and shooting are part of our national heritage. And, in fact, my administration has not curtailed the rights of gun owners - it has expanded them, including allowing people to carry their guns in national parks and wildlife refuges.

I fully expect the HC supporters who attacked Bernie for supporting gun owners' rights to do the same thing to Obama now.

7. Martin O’Malley, citing his record in Maryland, asserts himself on gun control.
Tue Oct 6, 2015, 12:59 AM
Oct 2015

O’Malley, a former mayor of Baltimore, called for four reforms on the national level: a ban on “combat assault weapons”; a requirement that those who purchase guns get licenses and be fingerprinted; a law making gun trafficking a federal crime; and a commitment from the federal government to purchase firearms only from companies that use “the latest and best safety technology.”

“I know that not everyone in this room has made a decision about what candidate you will support,” O’Malley said Sunday night. “But I also know this is New Hampshire and that some of you have. So I’m asking supporters of Senator Sanders to please urge Senator Sanders to back these four common-sense provisions that I just laid out to reduce gun violence. And I am asking the supporters of Secretary Clinton to please urge Secretary Clinton to back the specific provisions that I just laid out.”

10. Has he said anything about his 'tough on crime' stance during his tenure there? Many AAs blame him

for the Police brutality towards minorities there. Now maybe he had a reason for his policies, I haven't looked deeply into why he implemented those policies, so I'll cut him some slack until I do. I know that it's easy to toss out talking points about candidates, so I will check out the history on that before judging him.

I see the talking points re Sanders coming from the Corporations today, it's not a good idea since Sanders is on the same page with a majority of Americans re gun control. But hey, it's their money, let them spend it.

12. I always ask questions before judging anyone, including political candidates. Thanks for the link

I have seen AAs blame him for the way cops in Baltimore react to minorities or I would not have said that. However I am sure that there are other AAs who don't agree.

Seeing how he pointed the finger at Sanders, disappointing that he would go along with Talking Point funded by Corporate money, I wanted to demonstrate that when you point fingers at others for political purposes, you draw attention to yourself more than at the person you are pointing at more often than not.
