Clinton Says Removing Assad in Syria Is Top Priority

Reuters, The Associated Press and Haaretz Oct 06, 2015 11:40 AM

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Monday said removing President Bashar al-Assad is the top priority in Syria.

Clinton, speaking at a town hall meeting in Hollis, said the United States should pursue a diplomatic solution in resolving Syria's internal conflict.

Her comments come at a time of a growing gulf between Russia and the U.S. on the appropriate place of the Syrian President in the fight against ISIS.

U.S. Defence Secretary Ash Carter said on Monday that Russia's ongoing military action in Syria against moderate groups puts at further risk "the very political resolution and preservation of Syria's structure of future governance it says that it wants."

this shouldn't surprise anyone.with except of vietnam they love wars.As long as noone in their family has to fight in them.

There is civil war In Syria. If obama would have listen to her we would be involved in it.

Russia is supporting the Syrian government.neocons like her would risk WWIII.

Meanwhile when congress voted on supplying arms to syrian rebels Bernie voted no.as did Elizabeth Warren.

No to middle east wars! US needs to stay out of them.

Why is it that removing Assad is a top priority? What is it we hope to achieve? As far as I can tell, Syria is comprised of really bad people doing really bad things, and victims. None of the victims are vying for power. Granted, Assad deserves a bullet in the head, but so does ISIS, and so do several other groups violently vying for power.

Why is it in our national interests to poke a stick in a hornet's nest? What is it we hope to achieve. Hegemony in the Middle East is the actual answer, but I'd like to know what our stated rationale is.
