The race is close with very liberal voters (Clinton gets 45% to 41% for Sanders), men (Clinton gets 35%, Sanders 28%, Biden 24%), and younger voters (Clinton and Sanders tie at 36). Clinton is dominant with seniors (51% to 23% for Biden and 15% for Sanders), African Americans (Clinton gets 51% to 30% for Biden and 13% for Sanders), and women (Clinton gets 48% to 22% for Sanders and 17% for Biden.)

FYI: PPP was the most accurate pollster during the last presidential election cycle

Bill USA
(6,436 posts)a pollster. While the organization is not a person, you are attacking their inherent claim to be competent at what they do.
Also, your two word criticism is harsh but without any analysis or explanation. Thus, a 'personal attack' on the competence of the pollster without any argument or evidence.

(30,439 posts)However, I would caution Bernie supporters who are attempting to "unskew" scientific polls conducted by well-respected and experienced polling firms.
We saw that horror movie in 2012 and it turned out to be a bloody night for GOPers. Karl Rove was in utter disbelief on live television.
You don't want that to be you, trust me.
Pollsters like PPP and analysts like Nate Silver had the last laugh.

(80,708 posts)Probably be the nominee.
So if you're expecting to see me weep on MSNBC on super tuesday, you will be disappointed.
Sometimes i think my estimation of her chances is greater than the secret fears of some of her more "enthusiastic" backers here- otherwise how to explain the full court press here, throwing every random fucking thing at the wall against bernie sanders (and his supporters) .. Seems a little desperate, for people claiming such certainty and "inevitability".
I get it, some folks are still traumatized by 2008 or otherwise nursing random grudges or deep personal issues that have diddly to do with next years election. Still, the rational response would be "glad Sanders is in the mix, he is elevating the terms of the discussion"

There's no distinction between cell phones and land lines.

(16,286 posts)a. Assumes he or she knows nothing of others plight, that if someone from another group tells them bananas are round like apples in their world, then bananas are round like apples in their world
b. Realizes capitalism is all but completely unworkable, that we must do everything in our power to take *for profit motives out of many areas of life - not all but many
c. Comes down on the side of rights for all unless said rights specifically deny others
d. Last thing a very liberal person would do is promote or support war, unless there was no other option...America has not had a NO OTHER option situation since WWII
That is for starters...
*for profit to me means shareholder and CEO profits that are obscene...profits that allow working people to make more and more money, great...profits that allow one person to make 700 times more than the people doing the actual work, not great.

Very Liberal voters will stay home if Hillary is nominated.
The Rutgers poll showing the Hillary surge doesnt give the number of samplings. If you notice there aren't many replied to question those results, because if one is not a Hillary supporter than they are blocked from postingin this Hillary groups original post.

(34,095 posts)but looked to see if someone already had. I was talking to an old friend who I see only once in a decade who she was thinking about in this election. She calls herself a very liberal person. She would really like to vote for Ted Cruz, she loved McCain and Palin. When I ask her how she sees herself as liberal it is in comparison to the people in her community. It is a small place in a very large rural area in a very conservative state. To them she is almost a socialist, lol. They prefer Huckabee apparently. She does not keep up with all of this however so who knows. Anyway, if asked she is a very liberal person. As a registered Democrat she loves Hillary but prefers Cruz for some unheard reason, my ears started buzzing and I saw her mouth move but......

I'm not surprised at this at all. "Very liberal voters" like me socially were around long before Real-Deal Elizabeth Warren and then Bernie energized a crowd of discontented, previously unengaged citizens to grab onto and rally around one name.

MellowDem
(5,018 posts)But the meaning is very subjective.
It would be interesting if they asked people's positions on different policies and then asked them their preferences. Probably would see a lot of chickens voting for Col. Sanders as is usually the case.
The vast majority of voters don't know about policy issues and don't care about where candidates stand on them, from what I've seen.

(16,685 posts)My views on issues have not changed but my self-label has. That's the problem with letting peoples' self-labels define them when you're trying to measure something.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)liberals, conservatives, libertarians etc. It's been like that for as long as I can remember.
Do you have a better methodology in mind?
ibegurpard
(16,685 posts)Start asking a variety of issues questions to determine where people really are.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)liberal, conservative etc?
Also, how much weight do you give to each question/answer and who would determine that? At that point there's too much input from the polling firm. That's probably why they use self-identification.
I'm sure polling firms might have considered this in the past, but perhaps it proved to be too difficult.
Maybe you should start your own polling firm considering the fact that you think they don't know what they're doing.
Although it is interesting that pollsters like PPP prove to be very accurate post election.

Very few liberal voters prefer Hillary Clinton's voting record to Bernie Sander's voting record.
This is why corporate media refuses to cover issues, stances and voting records.
