Hillary Clinton: 'Racism is America's original sin'

Hillary Clinton met Friday with activists associated with the Black Lives Matter movement in Washington, where she reiterating her support for closing private prisons.

“Racism is America’s original sin,” Clinton said in a personal tweet after the meeting. “To those I met with today, thank you for sharing your ideas.”

DeRay Mckesson, a prominent movement activist whom Clinton dubbed the “social media emperor,” said the meeting was productive. “We didn’t agree about all the issues, but in the end I think that we felt heard,” Mckesson told MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts. The meeting also touched on transgender violence, which is pervasive problem within communities of color.

start although you have to question why she's just saying this now when prisons have been privatized for decades now. Ok Hilllary what about the voting rights act? What about getting more small business loans in black communities? What about reparations for slavery? What about a tax credit for black people to go to college at a nearly free rate? How about doing something about gentrification forcing communities of color out of their neighborhoods? What about reparations for Rosewood and Black Wall Street? Why is it that whenever they talk to or about the black community they have to add other issues with it like immigration or transgender issues when they never bring up blacks during their talks in the other communities?

Ah, no. Our greatest sin was the slaughter of 90% of Native Americans, plus the slaughter of 90% of the Bison which was their major food source. Our attempts to wipe out their culture, take away their land and basically imprison them on worthless land. What we did to these people IS the original sin.

Black slavery was not brought to this country until 1619, by the Dutch. Before that, there was such a thing as indentured servants, which were pretty much slaves. These were white Europeans who sold themselves into servitude in hopes of getting a better life in America. Many did not live to be free of their debt.

So, if you really look at what is wrong with America, it is that the government turns a blind eye to those with the power, screwing over the little guy. America is bully nation, and creates bullies all down the line, to even our children. Until recently, schools have really allowed bullying, as in 'boys will be boys' or 'it builds character' to those who have been bullied. Still in most schools, bullying is tolerated. Unfortunately, those who had their 'character built', may also be the ones who are doing the mass shootings.
