http://www.latinorebels.com/2015/10/17/hillary-clintons-latest-hispandering-is-just-plain-insulting/Hey, we understand that Clinton and the Democratic establishment need the U.S. Latino vote, but they are doing it all wrong. Enough with the shallow marketing and stale metaphors. Start answering the real questions. Accountability is so much more important than you think. In fact, it is the most important thing.

And even in a world in which the Democrats reclaim a majority in the Senate in 2018, and assuming a repub president hasn't gotten to name new members to the court in his/her first two years in office, whomever they pick, even while the Democrats control the Senate, is going to side with the conservatives far more frequently than anyone Clinton (or any Democrat) would choose.

I cringed when I saw her speech in San Antonio. Her campaign is tone deaf. La Hillary, more like la Mentirosa.
She remains as tone deaf and cluelessly offensive as in 2008, i.e., "I don't feel no-ways tired."

It appears to have been created by republicans.
From back in 2014:
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/07/hispandering-is-dcs-newest-buzzword-offensive/
"No one can say exactly who coined the term; Rush Limbaugh used it in 2012, as did syndicated columnist Esther J. Cepeda. Some point to mentions as early as 2002."
"Back in June, the Democratic National Committee's Director of Hispanic Media Pili Tobar called the word "offensive" "
"Bertha Guerrero, director of National Advocacy at the Hispanic Federation, emphasized that "There should be substantive dialogue when it comes to the needs of the Latino community, and I don't think we should really be using that term."

I cannot vote for Hillary.
I was a Clinton / Gore volunteer back in 91/92 & 95/96 and have exactly the same impression.
I've often wondered if Bubba really wanted to be Governor & President (at first), or if it was her idea since 30+ years ago, women weren't standard candidates for those offices. Remember his "joke" about how involved she'd be in the Presidency after the first election? "Buy one, get one free?"
Oh yes, she is miles ahead of any moron the GOP can offer - intellectually & experience-wise - but the Lady MacBeth-esque ambition is just chilling.

(52,152 posts)It is an out and out lie that she hasn't told English speaking audiences that her mother was a domestic, her first ad, which was in English BTW and marketed to a general audience, told the story of her mother. She also has repeatedly talked about (since at least the 1990's) her work registering voters in TX again to all audiences, not just Spanish speaking ones. She also has talked about her work in Alaska to general audiences. When an article has that many lies in it that is a problem.

Again she said all of this stuff to English speaking audiences on several occasions. Which is exactly and precisely what I said, and exactly and precisely the opposite of what the author of that piece said.
There's not an English "6 Things you didn't know about Hillary Clinton" article on her website, got it.
dsc
(52,152 posts)the clear implication was that she never said those things anywhere else, and that is baldly false.
Oh and here, in English, on her website, is an article which has everything she put in the other piece except Marc Anthony and the registering of voters.

I admit the Marc Anthony thing appears to only be on the Spanish feed.

(3,919 posts)you say hillary says these things to all groups. yet, the article at her website in spanish is directly targeting the spanish speakers/readers. so even if she may state all of these things to other groups, the article in spanish highlights these very same event to win points with hispanics (thus the term hispandering) in addition to some very specific condescending and insulting perceptions and experiences in an effort to cajole latinos. no thanks.

....at every turn. We saw this with Obama and Chapter two being written as we speak.
I don't think Hillary meant to fool anyone with her attempt at speaking an unknown language...she has Castro at her side for that. She make a loght hearted attempt at reaching out. I say "hola" to my neighbors all the time. They always try to teach me a new phrase...it's always botched. They think it's funny that I even attempt speaking any Spanish with my Aussie accent. I'm very glad they don't consider my poor attempt as insulting.

(3,919 posts)generations neither speak nor write spanish. it was discouraged and/or forbidden for many latinos who are now adults to speak spanish - nor was it taught in school until secondary school or college. in addition, many parents who wanted their children to succeed in american society chose not to teach their children spanish. there are many reasons why this blogger writes in english - other than it is his/her primary language. there is no automatic requirement that a latino blogger also publish in spanish - or vice versa.
what is the basis for your comment?

(3,919 posts)schools did not begin emphasizing the value of 2 languages or bilingualism until the late 80's - early 90's - (and only in limited school systems). this was the case even though private and government business entities had begun to recognize it's value. even then, it was highly controversial to teach dual language or bilingual education. yet, this very "value" was devalued, discouraged, and even punished in schools or socially up until the 80's - 90's.

(9,497 posts)Didn't want us to speak Spanish. So us kids were always spoken to in English by our Mexican grandmother and our bilingual father. I can read it and understand if spoken slowly. I write it badly.
Does this make any less Latina? My darker skinned brother was stopped for a traffic "violation" in Texas and held for a week without being charged.
The thing about it being in English, it allows Latino allies to join us.

(30,481 posts)That Sanders voted multiple times against a pathway to citizenship for over ten million people while Hillary voted for it. People don't forget when others tie the inclusion and human rights of over ten million because of visas. Truly, Sanders beliefs in American Exceptionalism were so great that one of his greatest legislative victories was fighting relentlessly agains a pathway to citizenship for over ten million people. You people want to make Sanders out to be a great leader. If that's the case, wouldn't it have been great if he joined Kennedy, Obama, Biden and Hillay in fighting for the rights of over ten million peopl; instead of joining forces with the most vile of republicans in a fight against human rights and equality. A possible ten million more citizens today living in the sunlight if Sanders used the leadership skills his supporters claim he has. How beautiful would that be.
Here is a little question for you. What happened with the visa aspect in the years after republicans abused Sanders like their little tool during the fight for immigration reform? Sanders fought against their citizenship because of these visas, teaming up with some of the sickest republicans. Once Sanders successfully blocked their pathway, what happened with the visas. A real eye opener.
