2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI want to personally thank all Sander supporters who stood up for Hillary going
through that Benghazi hearing yesterday. It meant a lot to me-yes it did. Some very kind things were said. As a Democrat, she needed all the support we-as Democrats-could muster up--against the real enemy--the Republicans. Pat yourselves on the back

I hope that most of the back-and-forth between the Sanders/Clinton camps is done in the spirit of friendly discourse. We are all passionate about our politics but that's why we're here, isn't it? We all want what's best for our nation but we recognize different paths that, right or wrong, each of us believe is the best way. The important thing is that ANY of our candidates are intelluctally and morally superior to anything the republican demagogues have to offer. Even if we don't win the General (remember a lot of people have been brainwashed, gerrymandered, are insane or otherwise ill-informed) we have each other and we will persevere - no matter what.
Now, back to the food fight! Go Bernie!

(6,604 posts)When I worked in IT support, I interacted with lots of public school staff in several districts. There was often much intramural sniping amongst the administrators in any given building, but I learned early on it was way smart not to join in. Ever.
Anyway, just pointing out that the rule seems to extend beyond families.
Good on Hillary, sincerely and absolutely!
Now go, Bernie!

(167 posts)I'm a Bernie supporter but Hillary gained more respect than ever from me. The Republicans badgered and bullied and lied while Hillary calmly answered her questions. I watched the entire debacle. Congressman Cummings said it best when he said, "Our country is better than this."
As I said, I support Bernie but of course will vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination. I won't have to hold my nose. While I think we need Bernie, I can't say that Hillary would be a bad president.

I would have no problems marking a ballot for Bernie if he wins the primary either, just to make that clear.
Thanks again for standing behind Hillary, if just for the day because it was the right thing to do.

(15,214 posts)It was nice to see some civility and understanding around here. Regardless of our differing opinions on both Hillary and Bernie, I think Hillary did us all proud yesterday.
I am a Hillary supporter but I follow both Hillary and Bernie on Facebook and I regularly share posts that come from Bernie because I believe the information that he sets out is important and valid. I like what Bernie brings to the discussion.
Anyway, thanks DU for a day that was reminiscent of the days when there was actually issues-based discussion rather than a lot of infighting. Let's see what we can all do to make that more the norm and less of the exception. It's okay to disagree, but let's all try to respect one another's right to disagree.

I agree! But keep me banned from the Hillary Group too. At first I was insulted, now I wear it proudly. Go Bernie!

(3,544 posts)But her testimony is not policy. Policies that I (and many, many others) want to be mainstream when it comes to electing the right person. There was absolutely no reason not to support her yesterday. OMG 11 hours!!! WTG Hilliary. She was rock solid, other than the laugh, which I still don't get.

I prefer Bernie for his platform and agenda, but it would be fun to see certain heads explode if Clinton wins the general. (Bernie too, come to think of it.)
