2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumQuestion: Why did the JJ Dinner start so late and who decided the order of the speakers?
I wondered the same thing as I was waiting for C-Span coverage to begin and when seeing the order of the speeches.
Why?
Also, why did Bill and Hillary not march with their supporters to the venue?
Not attending the march: Hillary or Bill Clinton, a break with tradition where candidates escort their supporters to the venue.

(14,255 posts)3. The dinner started late due to security screening.
And, it seems, the most important thing about the dinner was the chance to criticize Bernie and his supporters.
Any criticism of Hillary, of course, is smearing or bashing.

Plus, a lot of us were wanded and/or patted down by the local police/TSA/Secret Service.
Lousy job of planning!

(30,481 posts)9. 1) Clinton supporters wanted to keep Sanders up past his bed time.
2) Monsanto

(11,972 posts)10. So I guess it isn't only Sanders who ostensibly dissed supporters
People here got on Sanders for not hanging around after the event.

But Clinton didn't do the traditional hang with them at the beginning.
From the link in the OP:

Sanders did march from across the river, firing up his raucous supporters by tying his own campaign to the history of the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner march.
