What are the 'Republicans' and/or 'conservatives' motivations? It can't be facts or a better future.

These right wingers are wrong, just wrong about everything. In fact they are so wrong, they argue by lying or simply living in denial. They are so wrong, that they suppress the vote because they know they don't have popular support. They are so wrong, they rig campaigns with heaps of corrupt corporate cash, so wrong, they blatantly LIE in ads and in rhetoric, ridiculous lies that are completely made up, or totally opposite of the truth.

The wrong side of issues, wrong side of popularity, the wrong side of facts, the wrong side of history.

Now, I can't imagine that all right wingers are delusional, or like to lie, so why are they pushing this envelope, what are their motivations to stretch reality and ethics?

What drives them to these amoral depths? Really, I'd like to know, because I don't understand it.

Fear, hatred, envy.

Republicans are sociopaths who hate the human race. Why do you think they fear single payer health care, and try to conflate the republican GingrichCare that we got, with it?

They enjoy the fact that 100,000 people die per year in the U.S. due to lack of health care because it gives them a chubby.

That is why they will NEVER compromise on anything and will ALWAYS be a threat to freedom.

As their numbers decrease they will become even more dangerous and vicious, I fully expect to see a whole bunch more RW 'Lone Wolfs' the next 4 years along with more religious militancy.

Inflated ego; they want to think of themselves as much smarter than the educated experts. Think about this, who are you (generically) more likely to hate, someone who has more money than you or someone who is clearly smarter than you?

Republican voters have been told to be afraid of everything, and they are. Clinton addressed this tactic in his speech.

It's essentially a defensive strategy, always obstucting, always objecting, and always, inevitably, incrementally losing. The status quo that they're conserving becomes more compromised and incoherent over time and they become desperate and angry.

In a two party system the natural order is for the parties to evolve, to adapt to demand to win elections, so you end up with two fairly moderate parties fighting over the very middle. Conservatism doesn't fit into this model very well, they don't believe in evolution.

There's also a ton of people who've fallen for classical liberal, fiscal conservative, austrian or libertarian rhetoric from a party that has no intention of following through on it. There's a bit of a civil war going on within the republican party atm, so they're even more desperate and disorganised than usual.
