Goochland County (VA) resident Austin Ligon, co-founder and former CEO of CarMax, gave a prime-time speech arguing that the president is better-equipped to handle the nation's needs than Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
Ligon's remarks, which preceded a presentation on the resurgent auto industry, were designed to undercut Republican attacks on the now-infamous "you didn't build that" remark Obama made July 13 in Roanoke.
"We worked hard to build and conceive an idea for CarMax, but we didn't do it alone," Ligon said, crediting associates; healthy capital markets; good roads and bridges; and federal, state and local governments "that helped us have clear rules of the road, and plan and grow our business."
