I left out Obama from the headline because if you read the article, they've only endorsed one Democrat in the past four elections (Clinton in '96).

Mitt Romney has been turned away by a large union whose endorsement he hoped to win.
The 330,000-member Fraternal Order of Police, the countrys largest police union, announced that it would back no candidate for president this year, the first time the group had passed on an endorsement in its 98-year history. The union backed the Republican nominees in 2000, 2004 and 2008, and backed President Bill Clinton in 1996.
So, while not a 'win' for Obama, it certainly is a 'loss' for Romney.

(45,806 posts)I know a lot of police are against Dems becasuse they have a reputation of being against guns, but I don't think Obama's position on guns is any different that Bill's was.

(37,449 posts)I've read the complete interviews and questions for both the President & Rmoney. The President far surpassed Romney in his answers. Its disgusting and unseemly.

(4,551 posts)Bill and the Democrats in the 90's actually pursued gun control legislation, something Obama and today's Democrats seem afraid to do.

"People familiar with the groups decision said leaders had been disturbed by Mr. Romneys statements of strong support for several antiunion initiatives, particularly the move in Ohio to restrict the collective-bargaining rights of public-union employees, including police and firefighters. The measure was overturned by voters in Ohio last year."
And, of course, it's romney cracking down on everything to show what a big bad "severely" distrubed Con Can Do.
